Get a pack of wild dogs running by deer cameras every once in a while. Annoying as hell.

Think there was a thread on this little bit ago but didn’t find via search…

Property is pretty rural, and a bit of drive away so not there outside of around holidays very much. Never seen them in person just get camera pics, couple of them look mean / rabid so wouldn’t want to stumble upon them in the dark walking to a stand

We definitely have a miniature golden doodle issue across the country running deer. I’m not sure how we address these pit bulls of the forest.

No collars - seems to be mainly same pack of 4 sometimes 5 that roam together

Looking back through old photos occasionally some other dogs that look more domesticated but again no collars on those either.

Wild dogs

About the scariest thing to encounter in the woods in the south other than a methhead is a pack of wild dogs. I have a very low tolerance for dealing with them as in I refuse to deal with a pack of wild dogs. They aren't afraid of us like yotes and bears and such

I mainly bow hunt this property and try to carry a pistol along but often just forget in truck if I’m in a hurry or what not

but yeah last thing I want to have fight off or deal with is a pack of damn dogs

.22 magnum and a predator call will solve your problem. Don’t wound one though or that fricker will run a couple of miles hollering and tell everyone in the area that you shot a dog!

ETA: When I saw a couple of stray dogs chasing a spotted fawn through my food plot, I knew what had to be done.

I accidentally caught a huge Dalmatian or Dalmatian-Dane cross in a coyote snare set in a fence crawl-under gap. The only collar he had on was the one that ended his life. He was so mangy that most of his body was one big scab and it hardly had enough hair to determine his color. I wouldn't touch him and used snares to grip his feet to drag him into the pickup box.
Strange thing, there had been reports in the community of some strange large dog wandering the town and adjacent rural areas at night. It was never reported to have been seen, but the tracks were seen everywhere after a snowfall including on our own front porch and that of my mother's house. That all ended when he did.

When I was a kid I got run up a boidarc tree for two hours before they moved off far enough for me to leave. There were two packs running the bayou. One of smaller dogs and one of bigger dogs. They were both 7-12 dogs and they were scary as hell. I have no doubt they'd have eaten me that day.

My dad and I caught the big pack later and laid waste to them with rifles. Never saw any of them again after that.

Go buy about 100 pounds of cheap dog food and pour it out near the property line.
