Acknowledge the true fans who still show up for the games.

Were you under the impression that they are a non profit?

They did last season.

FY 2024 (ending June 30, 2024): Men's Basketball revenues were approximately $10.8 million, with expenses around $4.3 million. That's a $6.5 million profit by my math.

Season ticket holders have already paid for the season. The people who have been going to games are season ticket holders and people who have been given free tickets by season ticket holders. So, it’s basically free for non-season ticket holders anyway.

For what it’s worth, I tried to but couldn’t even give away tickets to the games I couldn’t go to.

The rest of the games? No.

But you could make an arguement to do it for the last 3 non-conf. home games...which are all against bad opponents. Anyone will be able to get a ticket to those games on the secondary market for less than $10. Probably even less than $5. Even that low of a price probably won't generate interest in those games.

BUT, if LSU made an announcement the games were free it would probably generate a larger crowd than they were initially going to get. The loss they would suffer on the lost ticket price would probably (easily) be absorbed on concessions. A hot dog and a coke would cost more than the actual price of a ticket (on the secondary market). Throw in alcohol and merch sales, and FREE admission would probably generate more revenue than paid admission

I could maybe get behind the last three non conference games being free to the public but what about us season ticket holders? We’ve already paid for these games.

Tickets on SeatGeek are usually $8 or you can get an $8 ticket at the box office without the SeatGeek fee and then sit wherever you want. If you won't pay $8, don't come.

They pretty much did. The last home game they let you in free with an Arkansas football game ticket. During the game, they put a QR on the screen to order a free ticket to every OOC home game plus a few SEC (Carolina, UGA, etc).

That's the cost of doing business and making certain you have a seat reserved for every home game.

FWIW, I declined to renew my season tickets this year. It wasn't out of some sort of "protest", or that I don't have any interest in the program. It was simply a financial decision. I can easily purchase a ticket to attend the games I want at less than face value and not feel obligated to go to the games don't feel like attending. That means I can likely attend every SEC home game (and a few others) for hundreds of dollars less than the purchase price of season tickets.

I love the people who see one game and say we suck and the season is over. While then shite talking and looking like an idiot because basketball is the only other sport making a profit. In fact, women’s basketball lost $9mil last year but that’s ok because they went to the elite 8 (that no one watches)

In general, you are correct, one game rarely defines a CBB season. But when it is year 4 under a coach who rarely beats quality competition and in the first game against quality competition gets blown out by nearly 30 points...in a game LSU never led for a single second...I can understand why people would quickly check out. You had people who checked in because it was the first time this season LSU played a quality opponent. What they saw was a blowout loss which has, unfortunately, been more of the norm under McMahon than the exception. So why would anyone expect the fans to think things will be different now when they are seeing the same thing they've seen for 3 years?

As a basketball fan I don't like it. But I can't blame anyone for feeling that way given the 3+ years of the program's poor results.
