Installing a 4” line from a gutter to an existing catch basin box.
Would you use the corrugated black drainage pipe? Will it not hold up? Buried about 1 foot deep. South Louisiana.
Get thinwall PVC instead?

PVC is cheap.....get thick wall pipe and never have to worry about it again.

What’s going over it? If you’ll
Be driving, pvc. If it’s just normal lawn equipment, the corrugated black pipe is good.

How long of a distance?
I was big into pvc but once I used corrugated it’s so easy. And no issues.

I've installed a number of drains and watch a lot of videos. Go corrugated over PVC. The corrugated is designed to create turbulence and move sediment and roof gravel through the pipe. A PVC pipe will clog up as sediment settles out. I've experienced this personally. If you do go PVC, then please put cleanouts. Second, if you do corrugated, then go with 3 inch pipe over 4 inch pipe. I know this sounds backwards, but a smaller diameter pipe will create a higher velocity, which will move debris out of the pipe a lot better. A 3-inch pipe can move a crap ton of water if you slope it right.
FYI, they make dual walled corrugated that is just a strong as PVC.

If it will be fed by a downspout I’d use smooth pipe.
Use the green sewer line pipe. It’s strong and can be connected together without glue (which isn’t necessary for yard drainage, just needs to be soil tight not necessarily water tight). Thin wall is a lot more fragile and only a little more affordable.
I dug a huge system with this in 2022 and holding up well. Hopefully you have enough fall at 1 ft depth, I had to go fairly deep and it got tough but like I said it clears out water.
Where does the existing catch basin terminate?

If burying, I've always used smooth pvc. Never had any problems
. My biggest concern with corrugated is that there are pinholes along the seam. This could be an entrance point for roots to wreak havoc.
But pvc went up with covid and hasnt' come back down. No longer "cheap".
