Wouldn’t be the first time they hired a coach from their other little brother.

His wikipedia page says that he was an Arkansas fan growing up...but Texas will push hard if Sark leaves...

They just gave Joey McGuire a raise to only 7 million a year. They are getting a steal for what everybody else is paying. Although it is pretty easy to run through your conference when you spend the money they spend, and they play in the Big 12. Joey McGuire is a great coach, and perfect for Tech. Will do plenty there, but not enough to jump to a top 5-10 job. He’s only in his 50’s. He’ll probably coach there for 20 years, and have major success with the donors and resources behind him. Tech saving a few million for NIL on their coaching salaries right now. It won’t be long before Tech has to dish out 10 million a year to keep him.

Long story short, CJM is in it for the long haul at Tech. He does not want to deal with Texas boosters, when his own guys are already giving him everything he wants, and they leave him alone and let him run his football team.

I think McGuire is a solid coach who is mainly a product of the TTU boosters. Going to Texas where the boosters are notoriously meddlesome wouldn't be the best idea
