Why Did Kylan Billiot not pan out

It’s glaring that he did not have 1 reception in two years being here. He joins Shelton Sampson as a former top 100 recruit who failed to catch a reception in two years being here. For someone who his recruiting pedigree why did he not pan out at all here ?

Did you watch our offense this year?

Too many bodies in front of him for him to get the snaps to develop.

You gotta hang out behind the line of scrimmage to get the ball thrown to you on this team.

This is definitely part of the reason, considering the only guys who got the ball were the slot receivers and the TE who was basically just a check down. Billiot was also really raw coming out of HS, so not sure where he was at in actually developing skill.

In 2024 you had all of the following above him on the depth chart: Kyren Lacy (Senior Transfer) - CJ Daniels (Junior Transfer) - Aaron Anderson (RS Sophomore Transfer) - Chris Hilton (RS Junior) - Zavion Thomas (Junior Transfer) - Treydez Green (Freak) - Kyle Parker (RS Freshman) - Shelton Sampson (RS Freshman) - Javen Nicholas (RS Sophomore) - Landon Ibieta (RS Sophomore)
In 2025 you had: Aaron Anderson (RS Junior Transfer) - Barion Brown (Senior Transfer) - Nic Anderson (RS Junior Transfer) - Chris Hilton (RS Senior) - Zavion Thomas (Senior Transfer) - Treydez Green (Even more of a Freak) - Kyle Parker (RS Sophomore) - Destyn Hill (RS Sophomore Transfer) all above him.
I think the targets just go to the best guys and when you have 3 freshman wide receivers and 3 transfer wide receivers every year as well as guys returning, it is hard to crack into the lineup. I feel like more of these kids need to try and go to a lower tier power 4 and establish themselves and transfer out to the LSU's once they have production under them. That has clearly been the model that they've tried to follow as of late.

He probably wasn't developing worth a shite because Hankton is garbage at developing guys.
We also never put teams away so the same guys were on the field all game, even against the rent-a-wins, so there was no game snaps for guys to get better.
Then you factor in that we played a hurt QB for most of the year and when we pulled him we switched to a screen pass only offense, it made for an absolute shite environment for WRs.

Players tend to not work out when the shite coaches have no development plan for them.

This… I always wondered why so many high ranking guys go to LSU knowing they will be buried on the depth chart

Because every wide receiver is not Jeremiah Smith! Development takes time and unfortunately the kids today don't want to face adversity head on, they rather take a easier path (not always better path)
