Querbes Park Golf Course

LGA is doing the net championship there next year.

That could be a bust compared to some of the historical locations they have chosen

I play there a couple days a week after work during daylight savings time. It's ok for a muni course. Par 71 and about 6139 from the tips so it's a small course. A couple green on the front 9 are crap but they are supposed to address that soon. Not much trouble if you can keep your tee shot from going right, no bunkers, OB right on 6,7,11,12,13,16,17, OB right and left on 10 its by the street and driving range.There is a concrete drainage ditch you have to cover on 12 and 13. 12 also has a sewage lift station with a fence and netting around it but your ball can get through and it's OB. Thick Bermuda around greens and rough, most greens are elevated pitched back to front. They are hard, fast and small, long is a terrible place to chip from and they water the heck out of the front of the greens, if you hit it high and short, don't expect it to bounce onto the green, it ain't happening. Range sucks, it has room for about 10 people and you hit off mats. If you're accurate with your approach shots, you can score on this course. You only really need driver on 6 holes, the rest are pretty short, par 5 #16 is over 600 yards, the other 2 you can reach in 2. I think that's about it. Let me know if you need anything else.

Outside of maybe the very few Louisiana courses that have hosted tour events, “historical locations” and Louisiana golf do not go together.

I believe it's the longest hole I've ever played still. My best Driver and 3W can't quite reach. Querbes is super easy but still lots of fun. Pretty well run and maintained for a LA muni.

It's narrow, but you'd be hard pressed to find much trouble. If you miss a fairway just miss it bad and you're pretty much guaranteed to be in another fairway with a clean shot in.

I learned to play at Querbes and Westwood Executive in Shreveport, so I have a soft spot for it.

When i said historical locations it was in reference to where they have held the tourney historically. Carter, squire creek, bluffs etc.


Not historical as in the course has history.

They let us play for free all through middle school then started making us pay when we got to HS in the late 90s.

Nice. What school? I was at Airline in 00-04 and we played there every week for high school golf. So much free golf. Olde Oaks back then with 27 holes in pristine shape, man, miss that.

I'll go hit the range and practice chip and putt at Querbes probably once a week during golf season but I don't think I played the course since the greens were redone last year.

My first round of golf ever was at Querbes in the early 70’s. It is relatively short and has no sand or water. However, all of the greens are elevated and are not receptive, so it is harder than the length would suggest. It is a historic course, celebrating its 100 year anniversary this year. Many pros have played there, including Sam Snead in the 1940’s. There is a mound on the 600 plus yard 16th hole that is called “Snead’s Hill” because that is how far he hit his drive when he played there. I guarantee none of us could hit it there. Bonus info: they had a Centennial tournament this year to celebrate the anniversary. My partner and I won it. Sorry for the brag.
