The way it all went down, Kiffin is even more motivated to succeed at LSU.

I have to admit that Lane changed my perception of him with that Marty interview. I saw a much more mature, human, and Saban-like man than I was expecting. One thing about Saban that always impresses me is that, right or wrong, he always speaks from a deep sense of conviction and honesty that you know is real.
There are many things that motivate people to succeed: money, fame, glory. Whatever it is, what gets you out of bed to work your arse off every day really matters because in the end, how motivated you are and how hard you work as a result is the most important factor for success.
At this point, I'm not worried about Lane's contract because guaranteed or not, he has something more important motivating him. After the way that everything that happened in Oxford, Lane has to win at LSU to prove himself right to everyone who is criticizing him and trying to paint him as the bad guy. Lane really tried to do the right thing in a tough situation but was instead branded as a traitor and treated poorly without any appreciation of what he did for them. They wouldn't even let him meet with his team to tell them goodbye, and instead of lashing back, he took the high road and said he understood their decision.
Now he has the opportunity to prove all of his critics wrong by creating another Saban like dynasty at LSU. Based on that interview, I think that matters more to him than money, guaranteed or not, or anything else.
TLDR: I'm on board the Lane train!

Lane will be hungry, have no doubts about our decision.

I think the Ole Miss anger is driven by the fact that he made them successful, they know what they had in him as their coach and they feel abandoned and betrayed by him at what is likely their programs high point. Add to that he chose to geaux to LSU and it was simply too much to overcome in finding a workable solution to allow him to finish up properly with the team. Plus, there is the whole timing thing with accepting the new job, NIL, lining up a staff, etc.
The divorce was preordained to be an ugly one and I agree that it only serves to motivate him even more.

The fact that the man would walk away from a playoff spot with a pretty good team tells me that he wants what he can get at LSU in terms of repeat appearances.
I'm firmly seated on the Lane Train... until he sucks, then I'll be making veiled threats to cancel the season tickets that I do not possess like the rest of you Tards.

I feel extremely blessed to have Kiffin as our coach and do believe that he would have been able to continue success at ole Miss. I do believe he will find it somewhat easier to maintain at LSU. And he may take any success he has here and go somewhere else but I believe we are as committed to success as any program in the country which is evidenced by the payoff of Kelly and the contract to Kiffin, as well as the numbers guaranteed to NIL. If not Kiffin then we would have found the next best coach available. We will be successful.

If Kiffin fails at LSU both his and LSU's reputation is in the dumpster.
The whole premise for LSU hiring BK and LK is that the school will elevate you as a coach because of the talent as long as you bring the goods.
Both are fails if CLK fails. In a way, we're in a corner now. But we're in the same corner at the same time now.

I'm not convinced. To be clear, I hope this works out for LSU and he ends up staying 15 years, winning multiple SEC titles and national championships.
But Kiffin's entire history makes him out to be a very talented guy with unfortunate sociopathic traits who is always looking for another job.

Not much different than how we felt when Saban left us.

I'm pretty sure this guy is operating at a much higher level than BK. We are a hard place to be a HC and he is a hard guy to please - a match made in heaven. Yes - this could be a Saban like 17 year dynasty no one wants to see except tiger fans. In a year or 2 when opponent fans see LSU on their schedule, they will go ahead and pencil in a loss, just like they did with Bana the last 17 years. We're about to assume bama's position on the food chain known as college football.
