Interesting how there's no pearl clutching over the Kiffin situation

Given the usual proclivities:
--player uses the portal (after the season is over, mind you) to transfer to another program, presumably in the player's best interest. TD response: melt; lambast the player; whine about the loss of the good ol' days (Bonus extra-hard melt if the transfer is to an intra-conference school)(Double Bonus extra-hard melt if the transfer is to a school in the same side of the conference)
--player decides to "opt out" in order to preserve the player's market value for the NFL. TD response: quitter, no chest, my Paw Paw didn't storm the beaches at Normandy for THIS! etc. Incessant whining about the good 'ol days.
Constant whining year round about no loyalty, respeck my decision, in my day you rode the pine for 4 years and were happy to be a tackling dummy in practice if that's all you ever got, etc.
--Coach leaves school and abandons players prior to the end of a playoff season. TD response: crickets (or else actively cheering it on)
My question: why are most people so relentlessly biased against the players?

We didn't bash Burreaux or That Kid Jayden for transferring in.
We complain when someone leaves.
We complain when someone leaves.

I understand what you're saying, but you get the overall point: players get greatly criticized for pursuing their own self interest while coaches are largely excused.
Some people want max transfer rules in place - even in the instance when the coach that recruited the kid leaves abruptly.

Agreed, its constant crying and whining 24/7.

All of the "back in my day" folks think that players shouldn't be paid and should be doing it for the love of the game like all of Cholly Mac's guys did. The "just be grateful you get a free education and 3 meals a day" types that likely also feel a certain way because of the way the majority of players look.

There was plenty of anger at Saban.

If anything, that makes my point even more.

It's true in the NFL too. People will relentlessly knight for the owners as if they are Mother Theresa or something while constantly castigating players for looking after their own interests. It's weird.
