I know a lot of people won't agree but personally I think it's a good deterrent and public safety measure.

Don't drink and drive next time dude

No one can, they should be illegal.

By stopping and checking everyone, there is no profiling or discrimination.

I would ask anyone who defends their legality the following; If it is nothing more than a license check then why don't you ever see them at 9:00 in the morning, midday, 3:00 in the afternoon?

If it scares people from drinking and driving then I’m all for it. I hate drunks.

How hard is it to not drink and drive.
Lucky we are so lenient on selfish idiots that kill so many every year

It’s not a license check, and your argument is disingenuous.
If you have a problem with checkpoints, don’t drink and get behind a wheel. I’m not going to ever do a field sobriety check, but there’s too many people who practice god awful judgement that I support the checkpoints.

Not sure of legality but other then responding to a wreck, how else would you get a drink driver? Be lucky enough for a cop to be around to see them swerve?

Oh? What is it? They ask for your license, regis. and maybe insurance...
They know of NO traffic violations so...?

We should just go back to prohibition

A random request of your 'Papers'...hmmm, where had this been used?
I suppose you would have no problem in being confronted in a shopping mall and ask for your driver's license or birth certificate? How about for your children? Could you provide your social security number please?

They shouldn’t be. But in general as long as they’re only sticking to dui checks I can see it. It’s the ones that use that as an excuse to write a bunch of petty collect and serve shite like tint tickets that are really bullshite.

They'll get you on that inspection sticker.

The question is: Where is the probable cause for being detained? There is none and I don't drink alcohol

How so?
Can you tell me when you saw one of these at mid-morning?

And?
You’re pretending that there are nothing but good actors behind the wheel of a vehicle and that police are violating your rights by making sure that is the case.
You want to live in an organized society, this is a small inconvenience that I support based on the mountain of evidence that assholes who are drunk off their asses will think of no one but themselves when drinking and driving.
