Looking at adding a muzzleloader to get my son/wife hunting early season as well. I have a Traditions Pursuit G4 ultralite, it has been easy to use and effective. I use black powder, haven't tried pellets but I'm open to that. I see some deals, some on the NItrofire models. Looks like the charge and primer are all in 1, breach loaded, and about $5 per shot for the nitrofire units (doesn't include bullet). Cost isn't great, but it seems super easy. I see 100 and 120 grain options. I checked, it is legal in Tennessee during ML season. Curious if anyone has used one and if it is reliable, accurate, etc? Thanks.

I bought one this year for my (9) year old to shoot. I'm using the 100 grain fire stick and the 250 grain carnivore sabot. We've shot one deer with it so far and have zero complaints. He shot it around 5 or 6 times prior to us going hunting and he didn't complain at all.

Im glad I have a TC Omega. That nitro fire is convenient but at 5 dollars a shot I'm getting a conventional muzzleloader.

Can you use a normal charge/wad/bullet with it? I have a Traditions Vortek, I think its the same barrel as what is on the Nitrofire. I played around with the charge/bullet a good bit and got it shooting sub MOA. I tried it with pellets and a couple of different off the shelf bullets and couldn't get it to group better than 4 or 5" at 100.

Have a nitro fire and several friends all switched to it. Very accurate and easy to use and clean. Agree the shots are a little pricey but after it’s sighted, how many shots are you really gonna take. With the breech load you can remove the pellets and shot after the hunt with out the need to fire. Pretty sweet overall.

I'm with you...I'm still on the same 100 pack of primers and big tub of powder I bought years ago, each maybe half used. But at the same time...I fire the thing 5 times a year, max. Once or twice at the range, and ideally 2-3 times at a deer during those short 2 weeks of the season.

I think you can put any bullet that fits the barrel...but I haven't read up on it or had any adventurous thoughts. I use Hornady SST with the sabot, it's a .45 250gr bullet with a tip that sits in the sabot that is .50. I thought it was pretty accurate until Loup came along.

I have the CVA Crossfire. It’s a tac driver with 100gr federal charges (orange) and 290gr Barnes TEZ. I love mine!
