For now, it's a PS5 exclusive.

Yeah, the Golden Joystick award categories are weird. E33 wasn't up for Console Game of the Year or PC Game of the Year but was nominated for Ultimate Game of the Year.

The nominees for Console Game of the Year were:
Donkey Kong Bananza
Monster Hunter Wilds
Ghost of Yotei
Death Stranding 2: On the Beach
Sonic Racing: CrossWorlds
Mario Kart World

Mario Kart should not be on that list

IMO it's extremely outdated to even have a "console game of the year" category. The overwhelming majority of major releases these days come out on both PC and consoles so there really isn't enough distinction between the two to have a separate category

The nominees every year are just gonna be by default whatever Nintendo and Sony put out that year. They are basically the only companies making console exclusives anymore and they put out about 2-3 a year, and those are always gonna be the nominees.
