Kiffin probably isn’t coming. So who’s it going to be?

I am 100% positive Kiffin is not coming. Not because he doesn’t want to. LSU is and Ole Miss aren’t even comparable. But a coach can’t leave an 11-1 playoff contending team. It’s just not going to happen. It would destroy his reputation as a coach.

So he brings Ole Miss from the grave to 3 10 win seasons and it appears a playoff game. So with all the success you are going to get other job opportunities. It is the case in other jobs not related to football. So how are you supposed to handle the situation if you indeed get a better job offer? Quit now? Then he would be criticized for quitting on the team. You have to look at the other offers and because of timing issues, your due diligence needs to be done in secrecy which is impossible. But with all this, everyone wants to crucify Kiffin for the way he is handling this. You tell me how would you handle this? I do not blame Kiffin whether he comes here or not.

I think he’ll be at a different school next year, but he can’t make that decision until his season ends.

Yeah, like leaving Tennessee in the middle of the night didn't hurt his reputation? And now everyone is fighting for him to be their next coach.

How quickly we forget that he darted from Tennessee as quickly as he could for USC.

I am so tired of seeing posts saying Kiffin isn’t coming because of what someone else thinks. It’s freaking annoying.

He may not come, but it’s his mind to make up.

I don't think he necessarily cares about his reputation. But I agree that I don't think he abandons his team just before the playoffs. That is a years' worth of work to get there just to quit. Leverage LSU and Florida for any and everything you want at Ole Miss? Sure. Quit on your playoff team? Just don't see it.

For their part, Florida and LSU aren't going to wait to see if he's available after the first round of games on Dec 19-20. (1) Because they will want to get their program moving before then and (2) if OM wins, that timeline gets pushed further back to at least Jan 1st.

Hey, I've been wrong plenty of times in my life. But I believe that if Ole Miss wins the Egg Bowl (thus securing a CFP spot), you can cross Kiffin off the list because of the circumstances. It wouldn't be the first time circumstances prevented a potential union from forming.

All this bullshite about him regretting leaving and feeling bad is nonsense. He doesn't give a frick.

He didn't literally do it.

Notre Dame's season was over. They weren't in the top 4 of the CFP poll ahead of the conf. championship games. Now, there was an outside chance ND would make the playoff if certain outcomes in the championship games fell their way, but that wasn't a lock and ND had no control over those circumstances. In fact, those circumstances DID NOT occur. BK left with there being a CHANCE ND reached the CFP, but not a certainty.

Here, Ole Miss is 10-1 and, today, IN the CFP field. If they beat MSU they will be 11-1 and won't fall out of the CFP field with that record. While the official announcement of them being in the CFP won't come until a week later, Ole Miss being in the CFP will be a certainty (unlike ND in 2021). Not potentially in if later outcomes go their way.
