Miles was going to Michigan. They won the SECCG and snuck into the title game (first two loss team to do it). If LSU lost to Tennessee, he was gone.

LSU was 5th in the AP and 7th in the BCS. They jumped five spots in the most improbable fashion.

BCS
Missouri (Lost to OU in Big 12 Title)
West Virginia (Lost to Pitt)
Ohio State (did not play)
Georgia (did not play)
Kansas (did not play)
Virginia Tech (Beat BC in ACC Title)
LSU (Beat Tenn in SEC title)

LSU previously beat VT 49-7

Kansas was 11-1 but lost their last regular game of the season to Missouri

And we were all drunk at Ivar’s watching the improbable happen. Seems like yesterday!

Still the greatest CFB season of all time. Also nice to know ol Pat McAfee missed a FG for WV to lose to Pitt. Dude really has lived a rich and colorful life.

There was also some late west coast game that had to go our way to give us a few bcs points

How many times did we have to put up with that ruse when CLM was at LSU? Only to have to give him a new contract.

Is that what Lane is doing here ?

He was never going to Michigan

Les Miles Press Conference where he unambigously killed the rumors about him going to Michigan

Les Miles' response is a textbook way on how to kill any rumors and at the same time kill all the distractions surrounding your team

Another example is Dan Lanning saying "“It’s zero. Yeah, I’m not leaving Oregon. As long as I win, that’s what I always tell my kids. If your dad wins, we’ll be at Oregon. So I’ve got to win. That’s how it changes.”

Clear and unambiguous, kills the noise and distractions

Lane Kiffin however completely dodged the question

Lane Kiffin dodges question about future at Ole Miss

Lane is leaving, if he weren't he'd have signed the Ole Miss offer and announced it unambiguously that he is staying at Ole Miss. Right now Ole Miss is having their best season ever, and the noise around the program is "where is Kiffin coaching next?" and is something you'd kill immediately if you were staying put. You wouldn't send your family to Baton Rouge on an LSU jet, you'd kill the rumors immediately
