Any HC who can put together a strong roster with best OC and DC and position coaches will be fine

And not just any HC can do that, so it very much is the head coach.

I mean, if you're trying to say head coaches don't matter, I'm not even sure we can have a serious conversation about anything.

Wrong. You have to have a coach that understands atleast 1 side of the ball.

You can still have coordinators but you need a guy who can step in if a side of the ball loses its flow

Not true at all. Some HCs - like Saban - are extremely hands-on in all areas of their team. Some are more CEOs like Miles/BK who let their coordinators do the work. Give me a hands-on HC any day. Kiffin is definitely hands-on with offense but maybe he gives the defense entirely to his coordinator so DC is important.

You can’t obsess over coordinators. Hire a competent HC and let the man do his job.

Nobody gave a shite about Saban’s coordinators. He could hire dead careers and resurrect them.

And take younger staff and prepare them to be future coordinators.

HC does a frickton more than you think

Then you’re in the situation where you have to replace coordinators if/when they have success. Ask O how that worked out…
