This is a great video if you have the 24 min to watch it.

One of the things recently thats made me most happy are the extensive reports of SQE de californianizing their entire company. As well as Sony as a whole, but SQE in particular. They were the best publisher imo for a long time who made freaking banger after after banger. And I dont even mean major names like FF or Dragon Quest but shite like parasite eve who I hope they bring back.

No what? Literally everything he says in the video is true. Insofar as it being a good thing being his opinion why is that a bad exactly?

The biggest like Capcom and SQE I would argue largely havent tried it mostly in regards to their biggest modern games, insofar as how women look at least. Themes and forced censorship are a different thing. Tifa and Aerith in the remakes look amazing, Capcoms modern women mostly look great.

For them it mostly comes in under the radar stuff like body type A and B shite. This has all been led by them being lied to by their western branches and the amount of power they had which after tremendous losses of money are rightly being scourged and the companies being brought back to Japan. Korea and China are more new players

I think the problem is that Eastern companies don't fully understand that the American people are completely at odds with the American cultural gatekeepers.

If you were a Eastern game company and all you really knew was what you see and heard in the mainstream media, you would assume the American public really wanted everything to be gay and androgynous and politically correct.

They tried leaning into that and it was predictably terrible.

The light bulb needs to go off that what the American media establishment tries to demand is completely at odds with what the vast majority of the American consumers actually want.

There are extraordinarily stupid levels of this. Like just one example off the top of my head SQE making the blood trail in ff7 remake in shinra HQ after Sephiroth frees Jenova green instead of red. These companies havent just been getting it from shite libs. But from all angles. Governments, credit card companies, ratings boards, etc. Anyone who thinks they can leverage them.

I say its a good thing they are like frick off we are the money no one likes most of your shite anyway

SquareEnix has been struggling for 20 years. It has nothing to do with DEI. The FF movie killed the company

This just isn’t really true.

At the very least it’s very misleading using one very true fact, being that the FF movie forever altered the fate of Square soft by bombing so bad it forced their merger with Enix, which many track to what is clearly worse creative output after. Which would make sense since the creator of FF was pushed out and 10 was his last one and it shows.

They’ve had some major bombs but many of them actually are DEI slop like forspoken or live service trash like the Marvel game. I think FF15 was their best selling FF ever. FF16 sold 3 million copies in a week. DQ 11 has been a massive continuous seller for years and DQ12 will eventually sale bigly because it remains true turn based DQ. My point is SQE might consider some of these as “flops” but I dont. I think they’re insane if they do and need to get their accounting in order.

Just laying out all the context for what you said. I don’t think it’s outright wrong but very complicated and it’s not all on western shite libbery but it became a part when they heavily invested here, most of which they have now sold like Tomb Raider

Turn based and DQ fans hope. Who knows though with SQE nowadays.

FF14 has been the cash cow keeping the company afloat. It's English localization went down the toilet once a pink-haired freak took it over. Add other choices like making a trans female the voice of the latest expansion...and what do you know, it's dying

I'm glad to see NA personnel purged. They're a disease

I think SQE has gotten the message and Clair Obscur drove the point home so hard it was likely the dagger if they hadn’t.

FF has continued to sell well but has seen depreciated interest as they moved away from a Japan focused identity and turn based to more western themed and action combat. I don’t think FF is ever going back to the glory days of say 10, but I do think the way forward will be some variations of the combat in the 7 remake games. Which is fine I like it a lot and think it’s a fine compromise.

They will not make the same mistake with DQ
