For the firing of Shula, big contract for Saban in a tight state budget, milked with political comments from politicians. They knew better, and rightly didn’t give a frick and went about their business.

LSU has been screwed in the past by trying to appease the outrage. Alleva held off on firing miles because of the “optics”. Woodward fired Wade because of the “optics”. Thats two examples off the top of my head.

Right or wrong, the people in charge of this hire need to stick to their guns.

Exactly. None of this matters let’s see who the new coach is before we start melting

I made this point with my friend group on Sunday.

The entire discussion is wrapped around who the next coach is.

Hire a homerun, everything said is completely moot.

Hire another failure, everything said is now prophetic.

Would you idiots stop taking about Saban? Damned, some of us enjoy having a small amount of pride.

Exactly. If Saban takes the job, all of this "chaos" vanishes like a fart in the wind. Question is does he want the job? I think he's definitely been offered and LSU has given him set amount of time to mull it over. We just have to patient. Yet patient has never been a word you'd describe LSU football fans as.

You’re right. People can’t remember those times. I remember people saying well they ever recover from this?

Don Shula and some of his sports writer pals. You don’t remember him calling Saban and Bama liars? I wasn’t talking about Bama fans, who wanted Deboer run out of Tuscaloosa 2 months ago.

The National Media was mad they fired Shula, he was well liked by national press to some extent, more than likely they wanted Bama to stay a terrible program, but the national media went after Saban and his 4 million a year contract. People forget how hated he was going to Bama by everybody but bama fans, we knew Saban was the real deal and a hard arse... This is not the same deal really, kelly wasn't well liked by the national media at all, made fun of him all the time... Them taking his side over LSU, just shows how bad LSU has handled this. Does this mean they will not get Kiffin, no, plus if you lose a year of recruiting always try to get the right guy, Coaching means more than recruiting rankings...

Also Jimbo was blocked from becoming the UAB head coach. The same board of trustees was supervising both UAB & bama - they wanted Jimbo to become Saban’s OC

For the firing of Shula,

:Where do yall come up with this stuff

He was 26-23, 10-23 in the conference and made one bowl game. Nobody was hammering them for firing Shula, he legit sucked.

Does "optics" mean the NCAA was going to give football an anal probe?

Yes bama was getting hammered for firing Shula, many said, the Bama job was a deadend job. You have to remember, after Gene Stallings, we had Mike Dubose, Fran, then the other Mike from washington state, and then Mike Shula, complete clown show... Then we were hiring Saban, then he turned us down, then hiring Rich Rod, then his wife made him turn us down, then back to Saban, thank god... We were made fun of for a solid month or two. In the end we got the right guy, that is all that mattered.
