Have lunch reservations tomorrow at Don Julio. Booked to late to get dinner. 3pm. How much time would you allot for it?

My wife wants to see a tango show and I've read about Secret Tango Society and wouldn't you know it, the only available res is tomorrow at 4:40pm! Google shows a 9 minute ride away so if we take about a 1.5 hour lunch we could be good. I just don't want to rush lunch.

If anyone has a different tango show they recommend I'm all ears. We don't want to do the big show and dinner kind. We like the idea of a more intimate and raw show.

Eta: the tango tix are gone so any recs for other shows appreciated.

Can't answer your show question but 1.5 hours at Don Julio is fine. That place is a machine.

The best experience I had in Buenos Aires last June was visiting this small Wine bar/Gourmet Market in Palermo.

The owner Luciano is really friendly and extremely knowledgeable. He speaks perfect English and I feel lucky we just happened to stop in randomly to get out of the rain. Ended up going there every night it was open.

Met a bunch of people and he pointed us in all the right directions for our trip to Argentina.

He drinks with everyone in the bar and at one point he told me he had to walk home really quick and for me to watch the place (while it was full of people)

Yeah, seen a few people mention that one now that we're here. We won't catch it this time, but we do have DJ and Fervor the next 2 days before heading off on our cruise.

Don Julio is great. 60-90 minutes unless you realy drag your feet. I used to go there with an old girlfriend when we were both in town for extended time and it was a great way to spend an evening, then walk around the surrounding mall by the Palermo train station and have a few drinks.

We dragged our feet, drank a bottle of wine, had dessert, and did a tour of the wine room. We finished at about 4:30. It's a shame I didn't get the tango tickets in time because we would've been able to make that show. Oh well. DJ was great, the food and service were awesome.

I went to Don Julio’s a couple of years ago-I think I enjoyed La Brigada and all the soccer memorabilia more- they cut my steak with a spoon.
