Why wouldn’t Verge play hardball with LSU right now?

By all accounts Verge is well liked in the football world, that seems to be the one thing we have going for us.
He’s also, apparently, working without a contract. and Landry gets to appoint new supervisors in July.
Why wouldn’t Verge go to LSU in a week and say i want a 5 year deal at 2 million per or i’m out and good luck hiring a coach and explaining to the fans and media why you’re once again without an AD.

Because there aren’t other high profile universities that would hire Verge as AD. He has no leverage.

And what coach can you hire knowing Verge has no contract and the board will get another shakeup in 8 months with the potential to move him on before the new coach has his first game here?

That's odd. He has not been hired for a single AD job in all this time. We've been sitting on a hidden gem that no other college was aware of.

This would be the best thing for LSU. There is a sitting AD out there right now just waiting for the phone call. He is the preferred choice of both Jay Johnson and Kim Mulkey. Rumor is he also has a "well respected" football coach ready to accept the job.

That same AD probably enjoyed a couple of good games on Sunday.

Every other SEC school with a decent AD will drags its balls over LSU as long as Verge is AD. He may be well-liked, but I can guarantee he’s not well respected. Hopefully the BOS and Chancellor Dalton realize this sooner rather than later and bring in a sitting AD from another school…and I don’t mean McNeese.

Because it's not always backing someone up in the corner with a demand like that. A good employment situation is where both parties give and take. I truly believe Verge wants what's best. He's shown that over his years of being loyal to the university.

So he’s supposed to be AD for the next 8 months then go back to his old
post? Wouldn’t the next AD want him
out?
