If the meals are free why do they need funding?

The free school meal program passed a few years ago.

They are doing this now because it cost too much and they didn’t foresee a 30% increase in meals served.

Go figure that it’s never enough.

That link is crap. I don't want to go to their "live elections updates" website.

I want to know what they define as "higher-earning."

Here's a better one

quote:

Prop. MM will provide an infusion of money for the program by increasing taxes paid by individuals making more than $300,000 annually. It's estimated that MM, by significantly lowering the amount those taxpayers can deduct from their income for state taxes, would raise $95 million per year for school meals.

The other prop. They passed was to let the government keep 11 million in excess taxes that were collected for the free meal program.

So keep the excess and tax me harder!

The educated people!

Why don't they just tax the legal marijuana sales since the kids who smoke probably eat more?

That’s a pretty low threshold. That’s going to snare a lot of working/dual income people. $300k sounds like a lot, but most of these people have bills to pay, kids to educate and raise, etc. I’d be looking to get out of there.

This is another thing. The low income immigrant kids get free meals too.

High earners move to low income tax state, and you are right back to not being able to fund it fully.

In year one they went over $51 million and in year 2 by $56 million. And they took funds from other education programs to fund it.

Your kid can’t read and do math, but they get free breakfast. That’s all that matters.

If this is the number for a joint filing in Denver, that's not that hard to reach.

They are free to the people who eat them.

Unless you think considering saying thank you is some sort of a payment

Wow, it's almost like funneling all the money into a few peoples hands is a bad idea.

Y'all dance all around the light but refuse to step into it.

I would consider labeling them as "taxpayer funded" instead of "free" to at least be an acknowledgment that somebody had to pay for it.

Or keep being a retard punishing your producers.

quote:

From 2020-2023, amid remote work booms and post-pandemic shifts, the state lost ~20,000-30,000 net residents in the $200k+ income bracket, per IRS migration data and Colorado Demography Office reports.

More will leave.

And don’t forget a lot of people that moved to Colorado fled California’s high taxes.

Colorado voters vote to approve

So what’s the problem?

Their state, their prerogative. If they want to tax the rich and ruin what they’ve built out there, let them.
