Looking to travel to Italy over the Christmas holidays with our family of 5. If we were to book hotels, we would need two separate rooms, so figured it may be more cost effective to book a VRBO/AirBnB/apartment. Wondering if anyone has recommendations for Rome, Florence and Venice. May do a couple of days in London as well so feel free to include if so. Thanks!

Rome - recommend Trastevere

Florence - Looks like the place we stayed isn't available anymore. This one is next to where we stayed, right inside the wall. The restaurants and cafe's in this area were amazing, and it's not a far walk into the city. Would stay in this area again over being in the city if we went back.

Couldn't tell you where we stayed in Venice, since it's no longer available and I don't remember where it was.

We did a few days in London on the way back but stayed as a regular hotel.

Enjoy your trip!

We've used Italy Perfect in the past both in Venice and Florence. Great locations and extremely helpful staff.

Everyone says this and I'm curious to see it in person in a couple of weeks, I've seen nothing in photos/ videos to impress me. Especially with kids. Maybe its just Rome overall not having a great neighborhood, idk.

Op I don't have any specific recommendations. London has nightly caps on APT rentals, something like 90 nights a year so its not an apt rental friendly city. Italy does not.

Trastevere is easy going and away from the hustle and bustle of the city, but has good food options. There's nothing particularly special about it that we noticed, just a more relaxed vibe.
