Since my son is now getting into kayak fishing with me I decided to buy a trailer because hauling two in the bed of my truck makes me nervous. I ordered a Malone Microsport like this.

It’s supposed to come with all of the paperwork needed to register. So I assume bill of sale and manufacturers origination paperwork. Is there anything else I would need to bring to the DMV to register? Any other forms that need to be filled out ahead of time?

Last time I did this was when I bought my old boat trailer. That was many years ago, but it wasn’t a brand new boat and trailer. Not sure if the process is the same.

thats it. you can fill out the application there and pay the taxes on the sale price. however, you can do it easier at an auto title place, and definitely get the lifetime plate

I think the lifetime plate is $70, definitely a no brainer

Sidebar. How much that trailer run ya? I've been thinking of doing the same thing for our kayaks

About $2500. I ordered it from Eco Fishing Shop which is where I also bought my Native Titan X 12.5 a year ago. It was about the same price or higher just about everywhere else online.
LINK

I was trying to find used options and had searched online for a couple of months. Could never really find anything worth a crap or for a reasonable price. So I just said screw it and bit the bullet. There is also a "low bed" option and I'm still wondering if I should've gone that route. It's the same price. I guess if I would rather the low bed I could always buy the low bed support tubes separately for about $100 and convert it.

I just did this last week for a kayak trailer I bought from tractor supply. I honestly didn’t even look in the packet to see what all was included, but I think the main thing they needed was just the receipt. For me it was about $350 (honestly) for a $1350 trailer.

Registering the kayak was more difficult (needed if you have a trolling motor on your kayak).

Edit: For those looking at trailers, check out Fish-TX trailers as well. TSC had the personal watercraft Karavan trailers on sale for $1350, or I probably would have gone another route. The trailer is great, but I would have liked a little extra room to attach a lockbox for straps, etc.
