All while the other league trips over its own little dick
Great move to help with this transition to a more open system
The grass roots feel at USL is gaining steam

Be real, you haven’t watched a USL match this season.

Small markets with inferior talent owned by relatively poor investors isn’t going to explode just because of pro/rel
It’s far more likely it kills the franchises entirely

Probably doesn’t watch DC United either. Then again I wouldn’t blame him, they’re consistently awful.

Funny you say that because North Carolina FC, who is currently the highest seed left in the Eastern Conference playoff bracket, just announced today that they are going on hiatus after this season until 2028... which likely means they won't come back.

Even better I saw NCFC play the Tampa Bay Rowdy’s and sat behind the goal in the supporters section

Wrong again
I saw them play Charlotte FC 3 rows back in July.
But it’s not worth the hassle because they suck and hoping my IPTV stream for their games is on

They will come back
Good support and a decent stadium
They already said they will apply to be in the revamped USL league

USL is pretty well supported in some markets
Also don’t ignore the fact the MLS has a bunch of terrible owners and a majority of the franchises don’t turn a profit and the league has never turned a profit. Eventually the franchises fees that go to the other owners will dry up. Tons of the owners use it as a tax write off similar to the WNBA.
MLS has also done its best to disenfranchise the average American soccer fan. From letting the league and the stands get over run by the woke mind virus to putting a majority of its games behind a pay wall. It has turned lots of people off on MLS.
Not like the league has great attendance in all its markets. Tons of half full stadiums all season long. shite Inter Miami had sections of empty seats at its home playoff game.

Considering the current stadium doesn't meet the USL D1 standards, that's meaningless. It's also not even their stadium. Please understand what you're talking about before you talk out of your arse.
If an MLS team did this you'd be making a mockery of the league.

The owner literally said it wasn't financially sustainable for him to compete in USLC. The mention of USL D1 was literally just to take heat off of him and kick the can down the road.

I did not know that but can you honestly tell me how this doesn’t meet USL D1 standards. I had no clue

WakeMED only seats 10,000. To apply to be one of the debut teams in USL D1, your stadium has to seat 15,000.

Ahh ok
They could easily expand it

Owner said he's not, because it's not his to expand.

Yea but I’m sure leverage can be out on the county to do it

He kinda sacrifices all his leverage by putting the team on hiatus for two years.
You need a team before you need a stadium.
Clown show by Malik to voluntarily dissolve the franchise.

Local news here says he’s already eyeing possibly sites in downtown Raleigh for a 20k seat stadium.

Neat... means nothing until ground is broken.
Good luck landing a location, breaking ground and having the stadium up and running in two years.
Look up Milwaukee Pro Soccer. They announced a stadium with renderings and everything in 2023 with plans to join USLC in 2026... haven't broken ground yet.
Santa Barbara is running into that issue right now as well.
I will bet you any amount of money the same thing happens with North Carolina. Malik is a clown.

I haven’t watched an MLS match.
I tried to watch a few last year, but was unimpressed.
