One thing that really bugs me about this comparison, that I rarely see brought up is the blatant disregard of logic and circumstances. When BK left ND, NIL was a new/unknown concept and it was a 4 team playoff. Now, your wealthy donor can straight up buy players and it is a 12 team playoff. ND is a shoe in to make the 12 team playoff every year and everyone talks them up non stop. BK would’ve been in a 12 team playoff for the last 5 or 6 years he coached there. ND alumni are also heavily invested and football and have deep pockets, it’s no surprise AT ALL that they can field better teams now than when BK was there. And then the next talking point, “o well ND beat Georgia and made the natty final”. OMG. Sure they beat Georgia, whose 2 year starting QB got injured in their conference championship game. Everybody loves to ignore that. The playoff committee didn’t think FSU could even qualify for the playoff when their starting QB got hurt, but yea we’ll just ignore Georgias QB getting hurt cuz he wasn’t that good. He only threw for 4,000 and 3,500 yds in his 2 starting years. I’m sure them throwing an underclassmen who had never started a big game into the biggest game of their season didn’t matter at all. It’s ridiculous. Who’s else did they beat? A bad Indiana team at home and a classic underachieving Penn state. Comparing the 2 is really like a fight where 1 guy has a hand tied behind his back and saying hey look that 2 armed guy is better. BK had ND in the national championship game in his 3rd season too, without NIL.

Now I don’t care about BK, and I agree it was probably time for him to go. But don’t go around and say Marcus Freeman looks like a great replacement. The guy is clearly overrated and gets credit for losing to good teams and beating bad teams.

Get to the point. From our perspective, BK is a fraud and a loser. Forget ancient history.

One got blown out by A&M with a 5yr senior QB, a mercenary Secondary, his 4th year into the program and the other one lost by 1 point.

They both had similar results at ND

Freeman lost the first two games of the year and had bad losses his first 3 seasons at ND

Freeman might end up winning a ton of championships. I’m wrong all the time

Are y’all are still upset that about people saying that Freeman is a better coach than BK? Brian Kelly was once a great coach, now he’s not. Who cares

I bet he’s willing to actually talk to recruits. Apparently they had to make an appointment with BK.

Freeman was able to beat USC and A&M last year, BK 0-2

This year Feeeman lost by 1 point to A&M because of a horrible officiating call while BK's team got ran out of the stadium

Freeman definitely had some hiccups against below average teams, not unexpected for a guy making his HC debut but I still have to concede that point. NIU, Marshall, Stanford, etc were all pretty head scratching. But for better or worse he has his team infinitely more prepared to play in big games (frankly more than BK has ever shown at any job) and his team can actually play offense this year. And it's been enough time where you can't say it's because Freeman took over a better situation, we're comparing years 3 and 4.

I don’t see the word trustworthy? Can you post something that shows where I said that?

One got their team to the playoff.

One got fired 3.5 years later.

As a guy that continuously defended Kelly's record at Notre Dame in comparison to Freeman's record at Notre Dame on this board, we no longer have to worry about this comparison as Brian Kelly is no longer the LSU coach and we no longer have to defend him to make ourselves feel better.
