quote:

“I don’t know Brian Kelly at all,” Whitworth said, per ProFootballTalk. “But what I do know is, I reached out multiple times to say I’d love to help you, and gotten lots of, ‘That’s great, I’ll keep that in mind’ type stuff.”

quote:

Whitworth also went on to say that he’s never heard a single positive story about Kelly’s leadership ability from people in or around the program, and that everything he’s heard has always been negative. “I haven’t heard a single story,” Whitworth said. “I’ve only heard stories about the other side of it. You’ve even seen some current players who just played for him coming out and saying one of the worst experiences they’ve ever had as a human being, and the leader he was.”

I like all the dirt comes out only after the coach is gone.

You know it’s bad if Whitworth says something publicly. Not only is he a media member, he’s also not a controversial or hot take guy.

Whit also mentioned the LSU Board and brass should have an open mind and be receptive to recommendations and opinions from former players and those who have been around the league... not stroke a check to a lower level coach whose having recent success.

He could have offered insights that Brad Davis is apparently completely unaware of, such as “stay lower than the other guy”, etc.

I mean I'm certainly no BK fan but this seems like a bit of an exaggeration

Lots and lots of smoke surrounding BK turning away former greats from being around the program.

Whitworth is a good guy. Met him at the Rose Bowl when we opened with UCLA and he was great. I didn't expect him to but he took a few mins to talk to us and took a pic with my son.

Whit stroked a check for a Farmerville family when a kid died and never told a soul. Got leaked a little while later what he did. Straight up great guy
