Memphis Crime Task Force

Morning news reported on some of the latest stats but the one that stood out the most was the fact that reported violent crimes dropped by nearly half with 336 reported incidents. The averaged is more than 600/month. Over 7,000 traffic stops, 80 missing children found, etc. Still have the local contingent of elected morons having the sads over this "invasion/occupation" but the public is overwhelmingly supporting the work.

I’d be interested in more details on this
It seems like a really high number
Trafficking? Custody issues?

It's amazing what some actual policing can do.

Are these some of the ones the Biden admin lost track of?

Hope they aren't spinning their data.
Or worse, skewing.

Crime is a trivially easy problem to solve in this day and age.
High crime areas are high crime because there is a contingent of people that like it that way and elect politicians who ensure it stays that way.
The idea that everyone wants clean safe streets is naive.
Trash people like trash. If you're a criminal and your children are criminals and you see criminality as part of your culture and necessary for survival, you don't want crime being "eliminated"

There are still plenty of people driving on 240 like they are kamikaze pilots looking to take out naval ships.

Where's the "if it saves one child" folks on this?
I hate a hypocrite

We live in Evergreen Historic District, a nice neighborhood about two blocks from the Zoo and Overton Park but surrounded by the hood.. Before the task force it was normal to hear multiple gun shots every night. Since then, we have not heard any. I'm just afraid that when they pull the plug on the task force the cockroaches will crawl back out and do what they do best.

My fiancee' makes this argument all the time but the reality is that they are setting up permanent Federal LEA offices in the area so there will be a presence even if it won't be as visible. The other part of this is that this gives MPD a chance to catch up on the considerable backlog of repeat offenders. Lot of low level and high level criminal getting swept up and communities are getting funds to take get rid of blighted properties so there should be long lasting effects from all of this.
