Why is it a problem to hold Scott Woodward accountable?

Genuine question — why is there such pushback any time someone criticizes Scott Woodward or calls for accountability?

He’s made some good moves, sure, but let’s be honest — not everything he’s done as AD has been a home run. The Brian Kelly hire and that massive contract look worse by the day, especially given how poorly it factored in NIL realities. Yet anytime someone points this out, it’s treated like sacrilege.

If Woodward gets credit when things go right, shouldn’t he also take responsibility when they don’t? Accountability isn’t “hate,” it’s just part of leadership. So why is this such a taboo topic among LSU fans?

Serious question — in what other business would a leader ever be allowed to keep their job after making a $100 million mistake?

That’s essentially what Scott Woodward did with Brian Kelly’s contract. Any CEO, university president, or executive who sunk that kind of money into a bad hire with zero foresight for how NIL would reshape the landscape would be gone immediately.

So why does LSU keep giving him a pass?

It isn't a problem, he should be held accountable, but he's one of us blah blah blah. Remember down here on da bayou, it's super important to be one of us. At least that is what I keep hearing

There is no AD who wins a NC in every sport.

So how does it balance out? Made a bad hire, Made 2 good hires. Three natties. So what accountability do you want? Contractual/terms oversign? if so, I agree. To be fired, I do not agree.

Also, you are not paying the buyout, so why do you give a shite? NIL is fine.

We are actively paying the number 2 and the number 8 buyouts in NCAA history because of him.

And that’s not taking into account basketball.

How could it get worse

You could get a needle nosed bean counter who micro manages the football team.

You people have forgotten what a disaster Alleva was and it would be very easy to go back to that. Alleva was a PR disaster and oversaw several scandals under his watch and had donors turn their back on the program. SW’s only job is not just hiring coaches. He cultivates donor relations, balances the entire athletic departments budget and manages the brand across all sports. And he does a damn good job of it. He took a big swing hiring Kelly and it didn’t work out. Thanks to SW we had the donor support in the program to buy him out bc he had salvaged those relationships.

I am pretty sure Landry will have his new president replace Woodward for his own guy. Because that’s what Landry does. It’s probably a huge mistake for the stability of the department but I guess that’s Louisiana.

Just move on from him. People love to say that nobody is bigger than LSU. Well he isn’t either. He’s shown that he is a dumbass when hiring at the highest level - football. Just move on. We’ll be fine.

Remember when Woodward hired Pelini?

What about when he refused to let Brad Davis get fired?

Woody should be a fundraiser and work concessions at non revenue sports!
He can do those as they lose money, he’s very good at that and finger foods!
Keep him away from anything FB related as he’s cost the Program tons of money and national embarrassment!

These comments are almost too dumb to engage, but I can't resist. LSU revenue is up over the last 6 years, contrary to popular belief. The athletic department does not fund the buyouts. Nothing about BK affected your precious revenue. I didn't like BK. Didn't like his contract, but the fixation on the buzzword "revenue" is getting old.

Number 1 it gives credence to the rumor that it was a Woodward hire.

Number 2 he gave him 2.3 million per year and had to payout over 6 million dollars for 1 year of work to a guy his head coach NEVER INTERVIEWED

I mean for y’all to defend that I feel like I’m taking crazy pills
