Well Pump House Question

I'm helping my son rebuild the small house that is covering the pump to his well. Not familiar with wells in general. My question is do I need to put some type of ventilation in this structure or should I seal it up tight? ChatGPT says to vent it on the roof and also down low on the opposite side for air flow. Chat can be very wrong sometimes and I haven't seen any other info on this. Anybody familiar with this?

You don't have to vent it unless something else in there needs air flow. Pawpaws old pump shed is 80 years old and has no ventilation.
Now, it isnt a bad thing. The pump motor will last longer if kept cool. An un-ventilated pump shed in louisiana is the hottest damn place on earth.

there is no downside to eave vents and plenty of downside to not venting it

I put a ridge vent on mine. and a floor drain.
Anytime I have to do work in there, there's usually some water that ends up on the floor. Figure its good to stop mold from growing.

If lean towards not venting so you can keep it warm easier with a heating lamp during winter.

I'm thinking of putting a flat metal roof on it and have a small approx. 1.5" gap at the top between the roof and rafters and then adding a closable vent on the back wall down low. The structure is only 3'x5' roughly. He currently uses a heat lamp in the winter in his current well house but we only really freeze down here a few nights a year.

Good plan. Also, hinge the roof so you can easily access the area if you need to. Make the door the full height of the wall. Nothing worse than trying to cram into a tiny pump house to make repairs.
