Looking for recommendations for my next amp. I am looking for a versatile amp that I can get that nice twangy country tone with, but also get that classic rock sound when I want to. I have been looking at either a deluxe reverb or Vox AC series. My main axe is a fender tele. Let me know what yall think

Love my Vox AC15.

If there’s a downside, it’s hard to play at home. So loud.

If you want a twangy sound, a twin or deluxe reverb is way to go, IMO. My neighbor had this one.

Great series of amps, but really need about a hundred hours before the speaker is perfect.

I think that amp will get a lot of playing time real fast
I played one about a year ago at a music store, I wanted to buy it that day, but it wasn't a good time.
That was a brand new one, hard to believe it could get better.

Is there any certain way that you suggest breaking it in?
I play as clear as I am able most of the time.

Put a looper in front of it. Record a loop and let it run at moderate volume all day while you're out and about.

That's a smart Idea.

My pal has a Fender Blues Deluxe Reissue (and a Fender telecaster) and the amp excels at both.

I have a Fender GTX 100 that I gig live (with all bluetooth and wifi off because it will freeze up at worst time) but one bar we play in has a Fender tube Bassbreaker 30 that I love. The GTX has a Bassbreaker setting but the real one has an incredible treble, loud as shite solo boost sound. Reverb has a few for sale.

I have a Mesa Boogie Fillmore 50 basically blackface fender. 6L6. I like it cause you can set it to half power and run it at 25 watts which is about what a Deluxe is. I also have a Dr Z Maz 18 EL84 tubes so Vox, I got dirt cheap cause it needed a speaker. Put an Alnico Blue in it and it’s pretty sweet. Vox is gonna give you that chimey tone think Brad Paisley. If you want Vox look into a used AC15 Hand Wired.

I have a Matchless Avalon 15/30. It’s incredibly loud and I’ve been looking in to the Two Notes Captor X for attenuation.

(Before I answer - I am a tube amp snob.)

If you don't have a Princeton Reverb (tube not the tone master) get one! Classic amp that is a perfect pedal platform for home and can be miked at any gig.

The Tone master series amps are cool. Moddler amps that have a built in attenuator. If you go TM, why not go with a Deluxe?

I have a Princeton reverb tube amp and love it. Play it every night and believe me, it can be too loud for at home playing, so I have a Swartz's Night Light Jr between the power amp and the speaker to attenuate it. I also switched out the speaker for an alnico speaker and really opened up the amp, highly recommended.

What pedals do you have? For a tele I highly suggest the Wampler Belle (Nobles ODS-1 clone) and the Boss Blues Driver. Great pedals for the tones you are going for.

(My favorite pedal is the Feder MTG Tube Distortion. Has a tube in it and can be a boost all the way up to high gain lead tones!)

That's why you get an AC4, too!

There are probably more amp options available at this point than any other time in human history...

I have Vox and Fender and Sovtek and Bedrock and Mahaffey and Blackstar and Bad Cat and Morgan amps (and I'm probably forgetting something)...

for years now I've gigged mainly with Supro 1600 Supremes. I have two of them, if I'm playing a bigger room or an outdoor thing I use them both, in stereo if the gig calls for it... but one is loud enough, really.

25 watts, class A, 33lbs. and small, 1 x 10" speaker (and the stock speaker is great... people think there will not be enough "bottom end," but even with a Tele or Strat the tone knob is close to all the way on the treble side). LOUD and clean if you want it to be... when I'm doing COUNTRY! I dial in my Janglebox compressor and Keely Memphis Sun reverb pedal for the classic Nashville "squish." For Classic Rock tones, you can jump the two channels together in the amp, but I just kick in my Crowther Hotcake or Nobles ODR-1 or Lovepedal JMP and it's perfect.

These amps were based on the old 50s Supros that have always been Keith RIchards' studio and stage secret for his tones. 5 guys I know bought them after playing with me or seeing me play mine onstage. There's plenty around used... they weren't as popular as the Jimmy Page-inspired Supro Black Majik model, because most people like too much gain IMO... and I play a lot of rock, punk and noise rock...

I have a Supro Blues King 12 that I like, too... but not as much as the Supremes. I do use it for smaller gigs in tiny places... 15 watts, 12" speaker. It has a Fender-ish tone to me, unless you engage the built in gain and boost then you can make it sound like a broken old amp Neil Young or Hubert Sumlin killed at some point...

Morgan amps are also great, but now you're getting into boutique shop handwired prices. The Morgan AC20 is beloved for being the perfect spot between a Vox AC15 and AC30. I have a Morgan RCA35 head, which was designed at the request of a Nashville studio guitarist who wanted "every Fender amp in one head," and it delivers that, from a Champ to a Twin, if you know what EQ things add up to the various circuits and eras. Amp building friends have been impressed with me demonstrating it for them.

I also have a Blackstar HT Club 40 that I couldn't pass up on clearance for $225, new. It has a clean channel based on a Fender, with a switch that lowers the headroom if you want some breakup... then a second "drive" channel that can approximate most amps you can think of by shifting the EQ parameters to imitate different circuits and tubes via an "ISF" knob, "American (Fender)" on one side and "British (Marshall, Vox)" on the other and things inbetween, then a switch that adds more gain to that... I only used it on a few gigs but really liked the sounds it got and people were very complimentary of it.

There's also a Vox AC10 these days... more manageable than an AC15, but I don't know if that means less clean headroom since I haven't played one...

I love my AC15, which has an Alnico Blue speaker... I bought it when I got tired of people SCREAMING at me because my beloved AC30 was too loud... and then they screamed that the AC15 was too loud... the Supros are not as "beamy" out of the speaker so I don't get those complains... plus the Supro circuit sounds good no matter how low you set the volume, unlike a lot of amps that have a big volume jump at some point when they come alive and sound bad and muffled before that...

I love Deluxe Reverbs... and Princetons... and most of the country amd classic rock sounds we think of were recorded with those back in the day (the original Mesa Boogie combo amps were actually just Princetons the guy would buy and hot rod the circuitry and put a 12" speaker into...). Blues Jr.s are cool... even the Blues Deluxe (which is now just the world's default amp) is great but kind of loud, at least in the way most people use them... a good preamp pedal (Chase Tone Secret pre, Vertex Steel String, Xotic E.P. Boost) can let you get good sounds out of those at a lower volume.
