This pic was from when I still had my dog, hence the hair everywhere. Made it myself with scrap from an old jobsite and some velcro tape. The "handles" are data cable guides

Going to get rid of the Belle Epoch at some point. I got the Strymon to replace it. They're both based on the Echoplex and both sound amazing. The BE has some wierd issue with cold solder joints or something like that, and takes a bit for sound to come out once you press the switch. However it had been my primary delay for like 12 years and I'm having trouble letting go.

The Phase95 is my second newest and quickly became a fave too. At about the setting I have it in 90 mode, it's like a subtle auto wah that can add great texture.

In his defense, he does have more guitars than pedals. I can't even get all his guitars in the frame

At least he knows Fender is superior.

I have been wanting that Tascam recorder he has sitting precariously by the notebook. I assume he likes it and would rave about it, seems like he could buy any recorder he likes and he chooses that one.

I have one and I'm not all that crazy about it.
The DP-008 EX seems easier for me to use, but I think that one has been phased out in favor of the DP-006.
Honestly though, a really good laptop with a good interface and simple recording program is easier than any of them.

Getting that all set up for Christmas, but a desktop not laptop. Looking for something mobile to supplement the mother ship. Already got Reaper installed and working. Scarlet Focusrite 4 channel already in the shopping cart too.

Using the handheld recorder didn't work very well for me.
The DPs aren't really much bigger and you have 8 tracks that work more like an old multitrac tape machine, plus they also work off batteries.

Most of those are squires that he mods with new pickups and wiring.

yea, he has it for a long time, 10 years at least. His son was a drummer at the Arts Magnet High School so he would record his performances with it. Now he sticks it in the middle of the room to listen to what we do but he hasnt figured out the sweet spot for it. My phone gets much better sound ImO.

That's another nice thing about the DP-008 and Dp-006 machines, you can disable the condenser mics and just plug guitars and mics straight in.
I really don't like the way that they are designed to mix down to the computer, it's pretty complicated. I figured out that I could just come out of the output jacks on the recorder into the interface and into the computer with a USB and get the mix right that way, because you have individual control of each channel. It works really well for acoustic/vocal stuff.
If we do heavier stuff, I usually get help with that from a friend that knows what he's doing. He can transfer it all easily to his recording program and go from there.
