He has already proven he is not the guy. Finish cutting the bait…..cut when you cut

seems not. I’d prefer to wait until we have our guy and let him decide. Firing all the coaches now could have a really bad domino effect

Yea no we still have 4 games to play. Why fire the staff and pay buyouts at this point

He can NOT stop a running QB….do you not see that trend? Also can’t get off the field on 3rd downs vs quality teams……

I think Baker got pumped up to the point of being overrated at LSU simply because he came in and fielded a so/so defense last year, which compared to 2023, looked like a championship defense.

This year we played teams that didn’t have much of a pulse, struggled against mobile QBs and also lost Whit Weeks. I don’t think he’s a bad DC he’s just nowhere near what people made him out to be.

LSU paid handsomely for a good defense and it turned into a below average one.

Yes. Auction off play-calling duties to cover buyouts.

No other coaches are getting canned before the season ends.

I mean the team needs enough coaches to finish the season out.

I suspect whoever the new coach is will make a decision on the rest.

That said, I would not mind Baker being retained for another year to provide some continuity.

I know his issue with mobile QBs, but we aren’t winning shite next year anyway.

Not winning next year is why they should cut him now. Currently ranked 33rd and still have to face Alabama and Arkansas who have pretty good offenses, probably finish below 50. LSU should consistently finish top 25 in defense no matter who the head coach is.

He’s been average the last few games but our front 7 is below average. Horrible pass rush and the lbs are honestly bad without Whit. Perk just ain’t it.
Now, it’s his responsibility to recruit lbs so that does fall on him but this defensive roster has a lot of bodies but no elite guys in the front 7 right now

You really think the assistant that would take his place can do better?

35 straight points in the 2H! Not sure why most here thought he was the shite. Dude's defense is pillow soft.

I wouldn't mind him staying. You're gonna pay him anyway. Bring in another DC, make them co-dc. Or if you hire a defensive minded coach, he can run the HCs defense, or a combination of the two. It can work.

Defense went sideways when your captain and best decent player got hurt... Who would have thought...

Also, Perk has quit and trying not to get hurt before the draft.

He also proved he can improve a unit from season to season. They were the worst in the SEC and just about all of college football when he arrived. They made a big leap in 2024 and were better than '24 this year. He isnt Kirby Smart or even Aranda as a DC, but 33rd or whatever nationally is not awful.

His unit did completely shite the bed the last few games, especially against good teams and looked somewhat fragile doing so. Also going on at that time was a head coach who had checked out and lost the locker room and subsequently the defense completely quit in the second half of the A&M game.

He obviously isn't irreplaceable, and likely will be gone next year with a new coach coming in, but to fire him at this point would be sheer insanity. And prepare yourself for all of the "we should've made (insert next coach name here) keep Baker" when we give up 30 plus to good offense next year.

Also, I would not be surprised at all if they come out against Bama after the bye week and play well.
