I bet Kelly didn't just become the way we all now see over the last few years.
Bad move.

I thought it was a good hire at the time but a bad contract. It just didn't work out.

They did their due diligence. I posted this a little while ago:

"From my people in the building and admin they knew that BK wasn't a fit. His job was to clean this shite show up that Miles and O left behind. If it worked cool if not we are at where we are at today. This is why he was so disconnected from everything. People say he checked out. After hearing this last night I don't think he was ever checked in."

I thought it was a good hire until over the summer when I saw how he was handling local recruits or his approach to it.

How could the AD at a football school possibly hire a head football coach without doing his due diligence?

I'm sorry, this is BS. You don't give someone 10 years 90% guaranteed to clean up a mess in this day and age. If that was their idea, it was an awful one.

Typically, a school will hire an outside recruiting firm to conduct a search and then candidates are selected from that pool based on criteria supplied by the school. No AD hires anyone in a vacuum. The AD facilitates and influences, but with these dollars, the process is much bigger than the AD.

Hey let’s hire a short, ruddy faced midget from Connecticut to be our coach.

What could go wrong!

He wasn't the first choice if you remember. He wasn't the second choice either. Several others told us no. We had to get whoever was still on the table. We wanted someone who at least seemed like a grown-up after the clown we had previously. Kelly was that coach.

When Orgeron was fired, NOBODY was thinking we should go get Kelly. We all had to talk ourselves into it after the fact.
