Why is Baker getting a pass? Should the next coach keep him?

I think it’d be a huge mistake to keep him. He can’t stop the mobile qb. Tamu owned him twice now.
Modern college football requires you to disguise blitzes and be able to contain the mobile qb in the pocket. His defense was built for 2005.

That stuff can be fixed with more team balance.
I get all the heat to Baler but my goodness, imagine if we had an offense to complete his defense.
I believe he can consistently field a top 30/40 defense year in & out, he’s proven that.
If we have a top 50 offense, I think you see better performance from Baker.

See how he calls games the rest of the season and see what the next HC wants. There is nothing to gain by firing him right now, there is a bunch to gain by firing coaches on the offensive side of the ball. Also I would wager if the offense wasnt so terrible that the defense would play better. Muh complementary football but actually make it complementary so your defense doesnt have to play like theyre going to die otherwise.

Not saying the d has zero flaws but they have been spending a ton of time on the field.

Baker isn’t getting a pass. It’s just facts that on a team with so many deficiencies a meh defense is probably the best unit. Therefore not bitched about quite as much.
I might be wrong but I highly doubt he’ll be forced onto whoever the next coach is
