Buyout details…54M due to BK no obligation to pay other staff

If we fire BK LSU owes approx 54 mill paid through 2031. Approx 9 mill a year.
BK has a “duty to mitigate” so he must at least appear to be searching for another job in good faith. (Could be a possible legal “out” of paying but not likely)
Assistant coaches “may” get ZERO $ of BK is fired. They all singed terms that if BK is no longer coach the university is under no obligation to pay them out the remained of their contracts.
So you have to assume a new coach will demand close to 10 mill a year plus we’ll have to pay out 9 mill a year to BK until 2031.
Can LSU afford a near 20 mill a year head coach budget?

Assuming the Advocate article on the buyout is accurate, LSU would owe 90% of the remaining contract over the next 6 years. LSU’s athletic budget is $220,000,000. That means the real question is what the opportunity cost would be for spending 5% of your annual athletic budget.
