None that I know of, they back pay all those loser fed employees I think.

Only way we save is if Trump fires them all.

Zero. They always get back pay. It’s a paid vacation for them. If I was a Fed employee that would be sent home on these government shutdowns, I’d hope there were shutdowns all the time.

Don’t care. Big govt shutdown is a moral victory.

There are about 3 million non-military federal employees in the United States, the U.S. Government is the largest employer. There are close to 4 million U.S. Government contractors.

730,000 U.S. government employees have been deemed "essential" or "excepted" and are required to work without pay during the federal government shutdown that began on October 1, 2025.
Contractors are paid to support these "essential" employees and their functional duties. The contractors that do not support essential duties will not get paid by the government, that will be up to the company that they employed.

Money will be saved by idling the majority of the fleet of 230,000 GSA vehicles owned by the government that government drives around to waste the day. Money will be saved on useless boondoggle TDY trips that include rental cars, airfare, daily per diem, and hotel stays. I'm sure I am missing some cost but those are examples.

Money could be saved, and should be, by not paying the non-essential government employees when they return to work, they will bitch, but will not quit because they will have to get a real job.

The U.S. Government is saving money each day that it is "shut down".

The only amount i know of is from some federal contracts... if the contract 'paid as they go' instead of being funded up front, then that money is lost as the contractors are not working and cannot bill and be paid for labor not provided.

I read that if it goes over 60 days, a large number of them can legally be let go. Maybe this is a plan to either get the budget you want passed or get a reduction in the number of federal employees. Either way the savings should be substantial. The D side has a conundrum on this topic. The R side would like it to go to December 1. They could potentially lay off dead weight labor and get a more fiscally sane budget passed. Let’s see what happens.

The longer it goes the more people see that a burden overpaid government officials and politicians are the answer but the problem
