Not sure why it making the news now.
quote:

Two owners of a pumpkin patch in Kansas are facing child abuse charges.

According to court documents filed in Sedgwick County on May 1, Aaron and Kara Smith are accused of abusing a child on April 19. The pair are owners of Cedar Creek Pumpkin Patch in Maize.

Aaron Smith is charged with “unlawfully and knowingly impeding the normal breathing or circulation of the blood by applying pressure on the throat, neck or chest of a child under 18.” Kara Smith is charged with “unlawfully and knowingly torture, cruelly beat, cruelly strike or cruelly kick a child at least six years of age but less than 18.”

Could’ve been a physical altercation with their teen son and dad grabbed him by the neck. Or worse.Who knows.

This type shite usually doesn't happen in the pumpkin community. It is a real black eye on the Jack-o-lantern, so to speak.

Is there a reason why WAFB thinks we should GAF about some parents in Kansas knocking around their little shite who probably deserved it?

That was my same thought. I clicked on it hoping it was local. Maybe just because it’s pumpkin season.

It happened over six months ago, so it had nothing to do with the pumpkin patch.

You couldn’t be more wrong. The pumpkin community is very seedy.

I’m thinking some Kansas news stations are revisiting this to make sure the business feels the pain. But I don’t get why WAFB is running this story.

Oh yeah? That’s nothing. We had a 6 year old die in Rockmart, GA a few weeks ago while on a field trip to a working farm with a corn maze and pumpkin decorating. Nobody could find her in the maze and eventually found her dead in the farm owners pool that is fenced in. All of my kids did that field trip when they were young. Could have been them.

Stuff like this never happens in unincorporated Terrbonne Oregon, gateway to Smith Rock.

Unfair. Let's squash this rumor right now. You're more likely to be gourd by a bull than molested in a pumpkin patch.

I agree, pumpkin patches are hallowed grounds. Hard to believe all this nutty humor stemmed from one unfortunate incident. We’ve all carved out a role in this misfortune.
