FDA ignored internal warnings about Tylenol for over a decade!

The Food and Drug Administration (FDA) defied the advice of its own drug safety experts to warn pregnant women about Tylenol for nearly a decade, internal reports and presentations obtained by the Daily Caller News Foundation reveal.
FDA rank-and-file scientists repeatedly recommended the agency release information about Tylenol in pregnancy across three scientific reviews conducted in 2016, 2019, 2022 and two memos, one from the FDA’s maternal health division in 2016 and one from the FDA’s urological health division in 2017.
The scientific literature posits many plausible drivers of autism, the most well-established of which are genetic, and the FDA drug safety experts acknowledged that the research linking the condition to Tylenol is far from ironclad.
Still, as alarm bells rang within FDA headquarters and the boardrooms of Tylenol’s manufacturers, pregnant women heard nothing from either the government or the manufacturers about the potential risks until the September announcement by President Donald Trump and Health and Human Services Secretary Robert F. Kennedy Jr.
I am not saying that Tylenol causes autism because the cause is most likely genetic. However, I can't wait to go shove this in the face of my white liberal female medical school classmates that rant and rave about how crazy RFK is and how Trump is destroying medicine.

If you are truly in medical school, unless it is just introductory, then the effects of Tylenol on the liver are bad enough regardless of autism. It’s like the people who still cling to cough syrup lol. I mean sure you can take it but there are far better, less risky options available now like Advil or a throat lozenge. I think some people truly believe their feelings and political beliefs trump actual common sense

There is more solid evidence of aliens building the pyramids than there is of vaccines contributing to autism.

There are two main reasons for the increase. The first is the broadened definition of Autism Spectrum Disorder, which means that more people are meeting this definition now than previously.
Second, there have been many widely successful public health programs that increased screening at wellness visits for children ages 18–24 months to look for signs of autism. Parents, caregivers, and community members are also more aware of the symptoms, and autism is being more accepted in the community. People are not as afraid to seek help and know where to go when they have concerns.
Changes in the diagnostic criteria and increased screening at wellness visits seem to be the main contributors. There have been a few studies over the past two years that have looked at a specific subgroup of individuals on the spectrum who frequently need 24-hour-a-day support and care from a caregiver, often have very limited verbal communication skills, or have intellectual disability that co-occurs with autism.
The data has shown that rates of autism for that subgroup have increased minimally, if at all, over the past nearly 10 years.
Rates have increased the most for individuals who are not in that subgroup, who may have more subtle phenotypes and fewer significant co-occurring conditions. We think this is most likely due to our ability to identify these subtle traits and symptoms better.
When I hear the word epidemic, I think of a quick, immediate increase in many individuals who have a certain condition. We’re not seeing that with autism. What we are seeing is a gradual rise over the past 20 years due to broadened diagnostic definitions, better screening, and increased awareness.
Genetics do not change, but the explosion of autism is likely due to increased screening for autism and widening the definition of autism. The rates of severe autism have not changed. What has changed is the rates of milder cases of autism which 20+ years ago would not diagnosed as autism.

I have wondered why the recent FDA new conference focused only on the Autism angle since there seems to be a lot of red flags with this drug. Some of the references in the above paper go back to the 1990's - so it not new information.

It's going to be shown that there is a genetic predisposition for autism and certain things like Tylenol and vaccines exacerbate the condition.

There is a genetic component but something is causing it to become more prevalent
