Anyone playing? Reviews are quite mixed. Consensus seems to be the story and character acting is quite good but any rpg elements are terrible and hollow. Definitely a 'wait for sale' unless you really like a story driven game in this type of setting. Disappointing but expected with its history, really wanted this to be good but seems it's only average at best.

Game Rant 7/10

A gripping story full of intrigue and murder that struggles to find its footing as an RPG sequel.

IGN

7 / 10.0

Vampire: The Masquerade - Bloodlines 2 takes another flawed but unique and remarkable bite at the jugular, with plenty to love and loathe alike, but I certainly enjoyed my time as an elder vampire at the very least.

GameSpot

7 / 10

Although Vampire: The Masquerade - Bloodlines 2 isn't particularly ambitious or polished, it makes up for its faults with enthralling gameplay, gorgeous environments, a good story, and even better characters.

I’ll almost certainly play at some point, but I’m waiting for a big sale and hopefully some mods to fill in the gaps.

The biggest issue/complaint is that people bought a game called "Bloodlines 2" expecting it to be like "Bloodlines" and it simply isn't as deep from a story/RPG element than Bloodlines, which is a 20+ year old game.

The formula was right there in Cyberpunk 2077... stealth and cinematic kills OR brutally murdering all your foes, deep character interactions, an intriguing story. I know it's a different developer, but they could have easily looked at that game and seen the best approach to developing this one.

I bought it but I thought the melee combat was some of the worst I had ever seen I'll give it another shot though.

Coders can be hired and fired at will, passed along to other projects, etc. Writers aren't quite as interchangeable, which means the bean counters don't like hiring them if they can avoid it.

The bean counters think they can avoid it; players disagree.

I loved the original and have always hoped they would just remaster it
