La Tech has a crazy 3rd down strategy

I never seen a season where we throw so many passes well short of the first down marker. It’s insanity. No downfield throws, and when they do it’s under thrown nearly every time.

Another year of Kelly and we’re sunk as a program. How many bad hires is he allowed to make (and keep). He showed his ability to pick coordinators with Matt (every opposing team takes it to the) House. Kelly is overpaid, not a hard worker, and always, always blames the players. He’s got to go ASAP

Of all the things to complain about this isn't rally one of them.

There are lots of good reasons to throw it short. The defense usually defends the line to gain well meaning you have to throw short and try to get yac for the first.

If it's 3rd and long especially that is true and also our OL sucks so we don't have time for plays to develop down field. 10+ yard throws take time to open up.

And if they are covering well and you don't have time, you naturally go to a check down and hope for the best.

That’s just stupid. Shorter passes are less likely to be incomplete. It’s all about efficiency. Nobody cares about first downs. You’re just spoiled

Have yall seen our offensive line play? You’re crazy if you think that on third down when the defense knows LSU will be passing, that Nuss is going to have enough time to wait until the receivers get far down the field to throw the ball. He has NO time! This is why we rely on short passes.
