Do any of you use Lace Sensors? I recently purchased a used American Strat (Sweetwater) that has a Lace Sensor in the bridge and middle positions. I was not familiar with them. I'm curious about what to expect. The seller is including the original pups so if I decide I don't like them I can always put those back in.
Fretshack I haven't ruled out trying your pickups in one of my guitars but that's another post.

I traded for an old Fender HWY 1 from a guy that had put the Lace Sensor blue silver red SSS in it. They're ok and not as chimney as I like but Ive done some recording with that guitar and decided to leave them in. Reply and let us know how you like yours.

Always wanted to try them, I mean, they were good enough for James Burton, I bet I would like them.
I just never have run across a guitar that had them.

I've been reading about them, Eric Clapton has been a user as well. Also Jeff Beck, Pete Townshend, Buddy Guy and Billy Corgan of Smashing Pumpkins. I'm more anxious for the arrival more than before.

What’s the color code on the pickups. There are a lot of different ones.

Thanks, you made me research a bit more. The lettering is gold colored and from what I can find on the internet they are "Holy Grail" lace sensors. The seller included a lot of extras and from I can tell things were upgraded. The Lace are in the bridge and middle positions but the neck is included but not on the guitar, there is a note on the zip lock bag it's in that says "5th string pole lost volume" I assume it's repairable?? I like the sound of them. The guitar has a couple of issues that I intend on having Jeff, (The Fretshack") tackling. I need to make an appointment, I'm confident he or Patrick will easily tackle. This is a Google images picture that is much clearer than mine of the exact type.

Sounds like the pole, which is a rod magnet, was somehow demagnetized. If that's the issue, I have a machine that supplies a good as new easy, fast fix, meaning it's a cheap fix too.

And thanks for the kind words, you're in good hands with Patrick on the installation and whatever else TLC.

I used to have a Strat with these. I think the idea was to reduce the pickup’s effect on the strings to allow for more sustain. At least that’s what the promotional materials used to say.

Well played Fret. Saved the day.

The original lace's didn't show poles. If memory serves, they had magnets arranged around the outside of the coil with a plain (no holes) pickup cover. The color printed on the cover denoted which kind it was. Red was hot, more like a hum bucker, blue was supposed be p90 ish, the original golds were 50's style Strat pickups.

I believe the first guitars to use them were Stratocaster Plus's with a red/gold/blue. Correct me if I'm wrong, I'm a bit fuzzy on three decades ago. Beck, Clapton and I believe Knopfler all used them at one point.

Btw,Strat Plus from the 80s-90s are basically custom shop Strats. There was attention paid to them due to the roller nut that they used. The installation was a bit more involved, so the techs paid more attention to the rest of the guitar..hence custom shop before custom shop existed. Some really cool finishes.

No, but I first heard of them from a pro guitarist, 20+ years ago. He was a big believer.

I think this is what I had. It was a nice guitar. Just didn’t play it as much as my primary.
