1. Games like this are part of rebuilds. It is not a straight linear path of growth.
2. Lots of people seem to be upset which makes me wonder what their expectations were coming into season and this game. The rebuild had already started and I would estimate is about 30% complete
3. If we were playing like the Jets, then I would understand frustration.
4. I think our coaching staff is solid. Huge improvement over the Allen teams. It’s just the ingredients are not in the cupboard yet.

5. We need a full evaluation on QB’s. Yo-yo’ing QB’s on a team like ours is desperation. Let Rattler play until the bye. That gives you around 10 games of information. Then Shough plays 7. That is a great use of two young players. They both get to play extended weeks without looking over their shoulder, develop chemistry w players, chemistry w preparation for game week, etc. But if you yank them after every bad performance, you will never know what you have. Then they go somewhere else and succeed (ie Darnold, Baker, Daniel Jones, Mac Jones, etc).

We’re so far and away better than what I expected coming into the year.

Think about how hard it is to win in the nfl.

Now think about a new coach in his 30s with a completely new staff.

Now think about having a 2nd year 5th rounder and a rookie 2nd rounder (which usually amount to nothing special as nfl QBs) as your only options at the most important position in sports.

Combine all that with a lot of huge misses in the draft and finally starting to pay the piper with the cap and it’s AMAZING that we’ve been in as many games as we have been in.

You already have 13 games of film on Rattler to evaluate. Only giving Shough 7 games of evaluation would be coaching malpractice. Rattler has done nothing to warrant continuing this experiment. He has shown who he is already. He is a decent backup that limits the offense.

It’s time to evaluate Shough, if he can’t handle it…….then he’s not the guy either. Enough of this bullshite.

I hear your frustration and the point that you’re making. A counterpoint would be that Rattler has only had 7 games in Kellen Moore’s system. The seven games last year were under Kubiak as OC.
I’m not defending Rattler per se. I don’t think he’s the long term answer, but I do think we could do a lot worse while we are rebuilding. I do want to defend the process of developing QB’s. As a long time NFL fan, the common thread amongst the perennial bad teams (ie Jets, Raiders, Browns, Lions before Campbell, Panthers under Tepper) is that they constantly change QB’s, coaches and schemes, and/or have meddling owners who think they know football but don’t).
Campbell and Detroit started like 0-10 with Jared Goff his first year. Goff is an MVP candidate now but back then, most thought he was at best between 15-25th best starting QB. Everyone expected Detroit to use him as a bridge to a high draft pick QB. Now, they are one of top teams bc of the process they went through.

I figured we’d be bad enough to get a top 3 pick and there’s where we’re at, so I’m no drama this season.
