If he were to be fired after December first, we'd owe 90% percent of his remaining salary by 2031, which means we'd need to pay 8 million a year.

That's definitely doable, doesn't sound as scary as it looks.

You’re not including the staff’s buyouts and the salary of the next coaching staff.

You better believe whoever we hire next would be paid north of $8m per year. Which doesn’t include new staff salaries.

But if you think that kind of money isn’t scary, then congratulations on your incredible life which must include yachts and private jets.

Good thing LSU has billion dollar energy and oil and gas companies sponsoring the field and uniforms.

Well you see, the Rant thinks coaches will pay LSU for the privilege of coaching here. Or better yet let’s get a up and coming high school coach who’s hungry!

I mean it IS scary but it's not as implausible as it may seem

But I suppose we are talking about other people's money when it's all said and done, he's probably gonna be here for another year at least

True. But people don’t become billionaires by being stupid with their money.

I’m not saying BK won’t be fired. I’m saying if he is, it’s not like it’s just some line item in the budget. It’s a major expense

Oh I absolutely agree, it isn't insignificant

I think it's doable though, who knows in the end

All valid points and I agree. Don’t think LSU is not going to have to pay tens of millions to cover up Brian Kelly’s mistakes though. It’s going to be very expensive to replace this offensive coaching staff and bring in players. It’s basically a total rebuild in order to prop up Kelly. It won’t be easy bringing in a reputable OC knowing he is saving Kelly’s arse. He will demand a lot as far as a contract and commitments to NIL. This contract is going to cost LSU tens of millions extra whether we keep Kelly or not. You have to cover his mistakes and that’s not easy to do.

I do creative finance for a living. Would love to be the firm that would work on this puzzle. With the introduction of private equity into CFB with the big 10 getting involved with it, I’d bet you start to see these programs turn towards financial solutions like that.

Not to derail the thread but anyone know who TAF uses currently for their budget and finance strategy?

You people are like children or retarded adults trying to put basic puzzle pieces together and can’t quite get it.
Sit back in your double wide and take another nap.

I’m not either. Unless LSU already has those two revenue streams appropriated for anything, they’d def help to lessen the blow over the life of the contract through 2031.

You ever thought that some of the staff will stay (I.e. FW) bc the new HC would need staff w/ La recruiting prowess— and from La.

Honestly, Baker may also be retained, depending on who the hire is.
If it’s Drinkwitz, he stays.

Does that mean we could not pay anything until 2031? Because if so we should do that. Maybe he’ll be dead by then.

Fired college football coaches are really the best gig in America

This guy can get fired and take the next 6 years off, do absolutely nothing and collect millions
