Real questions facing BK

we keep talking about $50 million buyout but does BK want to come back after this season?
he will be forced to change OC and OL at least, does he want to start new with at least one and possibly two new coordinators?
he has no QB1 for 2026
this was an all in roster, does he want to come back and rebuild the roster for next season?
he wanted to know if he was good enough to win a NC if he had everything he needed. does he have that answer now?
I listened to his post game press conference. He uses the word we, but he talks like a TV studio analyst, not as a head coach.
the transfer portal and NIL have changed the game forever, does he want to continue rebuilding his roster every season with kids from other programs while losing kids you recruited to transfer to other schools?
at 64, will he move to settle with LSU and then go to TV?

with other programs making big moves, where does that leave LSU and BK for 2026?
Can LSU muster up NIL for BK to rebuild the roster and the $20 million required for player stipends?
LSU has an in interim president right now, is this the time for a review of BK‘s contract situation? Would an interim president want to be involved in that?
If LSU were to decide to move on from BK, does that mean the board of supervisors would take the lead with Scott Woodward on finding a replacement?

Scott needs to be replaced first

Woodward can’t be the only one. His “throw a big fat check and decade long contract at experienced coach” tactic has now screwed over 2 programs. He’s lost the right to be “the search.” Do we even know if he’s a good negotiator? If/when it’s time to do basketball, same thing. Use a search firm and then make sure everyone is on board with the top choice.

TV?!?!
You think people hated this guy as a coach, wait till you see him get paid to be a “personality”

This is what’s so frustrating.
THIS WAS THE YEAR TO MAKE A RUN.
We are losing a ton on both sides of the ball after this season.
Next year was always going to be a bit of a rebuild, but that was going to accepted after a deep playoff run this year.
Now we wasted this year and have to rebuild next year with a HC who can’t get over the hump.

He's incredibly unlikeable. He's got no future in television.

it is $51 million and I was alluding to a mutual decision deal with a negotiated settlement

you think paul finebaum, saban and urban meyer are likable people on television?
look at some of the people on the talking head shows, are any of them likable?
color commentator, tv show panel guest, podcast guest is a pretty easy gig

Point of Order - Kelly’s contract does have a duty to mitigate in it. In fact, he’s required to submit to LSU all documents that would allow LSU to determine if he’s getting paid enough at his new job.
If Kelly gets fired tomorrow, I’ll bet $1 that LSU’s attorneys will argue that Kelly could get a job in 2026 making $4 million to $6 million a year, and adjust his buyout accordingly.
Multiply that by 6 years and you can shave a lot off of that total buyout figure (which also has no lump sum and is just paid monthly).

great point
I do believe if BK is out it is a mutual decision deal. no way LSU fires him and triggers his buyout. it would have to get way worse to even consider firing him
I keep repeating it but LSU has an Interim President right now. There is a severe leadership void at LSU for this kind of discussion.

That is a tough one.
In a perfect world, guys like Scott would know which way the wind is blowing, and know who’s going to get the job. Then go get at least tacit approval of whatever Scott wants to do.
Also agree that there’s good reasons for both sides to agree to a much smaller amount, paid in a lump so Kelly can just go get one more job and not have to worry about LSU suing him for not making enough at his new school.

It's going to get "way worse". Western Kentucky is the only remaining win on the schedule. This is a 6-6 team.

in 2021 the loudest members of the BOS and behind the scenes JBE were pushing Mel Tucker for some obvious reasons
Tate was announced in may 2021 and a lot of people here were concerned about his influence in the new hire process. Turns out he was ideal and he told Collis Temple and the gang to back off
if a decision is made to move on from BK, who makes it? Matt Lee? the BOS?
who picks the new coach? Woodward is not the decision maker.

This isn’t the slight you think it is. Landry and Woodward do not like each other.

That’s concerning too. Because the obvious solution would be for Scott to get Landry to directly sign off on a Kelly firing and a Kiffin or Lashlee hiring, so a new system president’s hands are tied.
