When we are defoliating cotton and jump deer it is always bucks for whatever reason. 9 times out of ten it is a bachelor group of 3-4 bucks. Don’t recall ever jumping a doe.

They feed the heck out of cotton seed in west Texas and Mexico.

Big chunk of our seed goes to dairy cattle. Dairy’s love it. Good balance of protein, fat and fiber.

Does like it to. We see a lot of deer on our property when cotton is grown. My daughter killed a doe last year for the youth hunt in standing cotton. Came out with 7 other does and two 8 points. Walked right past the corn and rice bran and ate in the cotton. Both of my sons also took a doe in one of the cotton fields last year.

That's all we feed during the spring and summer. They demolish it in S Texas

You’re exactly right. 9X’s outta 10 it’s a bachelor group of bucks bedded down in the field.
I used to scout cotton during the summers while in high school school in Dallas, Hale, Marengo, Lowndes, Pickens, Autauga county in the early 90’s. Saw some massive bucks in velvet in those fields.
They would startle the hell outta me. All would be quiet and calm while I’m working in the middle of a field, and then BOOM, they jump up 10 yards from me and take off all the way to the tree line.
Jumped 7 bedded up together one time right outside of Faunsdale that were all huge deer. Not just racks but body size. Watching them leap and bound across the field effortlessly and the power and height with each jump, are one of the things I’ll never forget.
That’s a great deer btw. Beautiful!

I believe you need to only feed them cotton seed while they are in velvet. Makes them temporarily sterile.

That’s outdated “info”; cottonseed doesn’t have any effect on deer fertility.

That's an absolute stub
