The state auditor has completed a much-anticipated review of New Orleans' multimillion-dollar budget hole, and the result is worse than expected: The city is facing an estimated $160 million deficit this year, sharply higher than earlier estimates and of a scale that could require big cuts to spending on city services.

The administration has previously estimated a budget deficit of $103 million, due to revenues that are projected to come in $31 million lower than expected and overtime and other personnel costs that were $73 million higher than planned. But officials hadn’t settled on a single number to peg the estimated gap.
Legislative Auditor Mike Waguespack's analysis, presented to the City Council on Wednesday, offered for the first time a concrete number that officials will use in finalizing the budget for 2026 as they try to plug the gap.
"We haven't had a common set of facts. Now we have a common set of facts," said City Council Budget Chairperson Joe Giarrusso. "We have sobering news that we have to deal with."

In a normal and sane world, this would mean a slash and burn of their budget, but we all know they will cry and scream for a bailout instead.

...and is pretending she will invest in infrastructure.
New Orleans is a failed city.

New Orleans is a failed third world state, Haiti within a first world country to fund it. It needs to be leveled.

That’s blatantly robbing the taxpayers.

Progressive. Just issue billions more in junk bonds and pay 10% interest.
