Trump threatens to remove Boston World Cup match. FIFA pushes back.

Trump made his remarks during a news conference at the White House, where he was meeting with Argentina's president, Javier Milei. Trump was asked about the "street takeovers" in Boston.
“We could take them away,” Trump said about the games in the city that were already sold out. “If somebody is doing a bad job, and if I feel there’s unsafe conditions, I would call Gianni – the head of FIFA who’s phenomenal -- and I would say, 'Let’s move into another location,' and they would do that."
Trump said that FIFA head Gianni Infantino “wouldn’t love to do it, but he’d do it very easily.”

However, FIFA's Vice President pushed back on Trump's comments on Oct. 1 with a statement reminding the president that FIFA ultimately decides which cities will host the games, not the government. “It’s FIFA’s tournament, FIFA’s jurisdiction, FIFA makes those decisions,” the soccer body’s vice president Victor Montagliani said Wednesday at a sports business conference in London at the time.
“With all due respect to current world leaders, football is bigger than them and football will survive their regime and their government and their slogans,” Montagliani said in an on-stage interview. “That’s the beauty of our game, is that it is bigger than any individual and bigger than any country.”

LOL... Yeah, thats not how this works.
While I don't agree with Trump pulling from Boston, he can if he wants. He can just tell FIFA to get F'd and bar them from entering the country.

Wouldn’t that be a state decision?

Lol FIFA is so corrupt. I take what the VP says with a grain of salt.

Apparently Foxborough, Massachusetts is in Boston proper.

The Federal Government controls entry into our country.

Then why would the president say he would have to call FIFA to get the game removed? If he had the authority, he would not have to make that call.

It seems like a FIFA and city or state decision. Not a presidential decision.

He’s not doing that. I think we all know that.

Does this silly fricker think he can just roll into any city and play his gay arse game without permission?

FIFA ... FAFO? Ya this definitely falls in the FAFO category.

Why wouldn't he want to do it via conversation first? He doesn't have to jump straight to barring entry or executive order

FIFA will do whatever Trump tells them to do.
The man is creating world peace. He can handle a soccer game while taking a crap.

I’m laughing imagining the absolute face melting that would be going on here if Biden said something like this when he was president.

I think someone is in for a rude awakening when it is discovered that professional sports are not necessary for the survival of a nation or mankind.

Seems unlikely, but that wasn’t the question.

FIFA is more corrupt than any nation.
