Are there any other moves we could initiate now that clears more cap space in 2026 ??

Just keep doing what we’re doing. We all wanted a rebuild. Have to be patient and actually allow the damn rebuild.

There are a few, but the problem with trading them now to clear space is all of that signing bonus money comes due in 2026. So, trading a player like AK would clear his $11.5M salary, but then you'd have to account for his full $18.2M in accrued bonus money - saving about $350k.

Outside of guys on rookie deals (trading them defeats the purpose), you could look at Cooks (saves $3.15M), Godchaux ($1.6M), Zach Wood* ($1.2M).

*Does this team really need the 5th highest paid long snapper?

trading olave immediate saves a big chunk. that's part of the value of trading olave now.

I did not mention Olave because I thought I was in the Olave thread; but yes, trade him as soon as you get a legitimate offer.

Godchaux ($1.6M)

Honestly, he's not on a bad deal. And I don't know how much you get for him. Local guy and good locker room guy, does it really make sense?

Ratter gets more experience, we keep drafting replacements for the old vets and building quality depth. Maybe we can afford a FA WR

No

Trust the process. Embrace the youth movement. 2027 will be the year to spend in FA.

I don't think it does, and I personally do not view it as a bad contract. Was more or less just answer the question from TigerSaurus of players that could be traded for cap relief.

IMO, they need to gut the team of bad contracts, which many will be expiring after this season, and I do not see the point on trading a player for the sake of grabbing picks to take a chance on possibly hitting just to make moves. Moving Olave makes sense due to his frustrations with the team, fans frustrations with him, his $15M salary next year, and him justifiably wanting a big payday before 2027.

No doubt. The only issue with a rebuild is that that moron Loomis is in charge of it and he just isn't trustworthy or reliable anymore.

As hyped as I am for a top 3 to 5 pick, I have a bad feeling Loomis will f it up, again.

CKM likely has the final say.

Godchaux is worth every penny of his deal. Trade Olave and get what we can get.
