On a well by chance? I had this issue, I bet if you turn on your shower and turn on the hot in a sink it will stay hot. We had to up our pressure to increase the flow in one specific bathroom.

i had one at my last house that was an absolute beast and loved loved LOVED it. the recirculator 'learned' our behavior so the water was hot and ready no matter which shower you got into in the morning.
naveen ftw

Take off the shower head and clean it - the flow may be just low enough currently that it doesn’t trigger the heater to stay on after a while - happened to me

Most of them throw a code when something is going wrong with it. Check on the thermostat and see if there is a blinking code. Also, they should be flushed once a year.

Or if head is one of those awful low flow you can break off the piece of plastic inside to give you the full pressure. Youtube has videos about specific brands of heads.

If it’s a navian it sounds like the check valve. Cost about $5 and takes 5 mins to change. You should probably descale it while you have the gas electric and water off.

Do the other showers and tub have higher flow rates? If the water isn't coming out fast enough, the water heater can overheat and have to shutdown.
