It is the first EF5 since the Moore, OK tornado on May 20, 2013. A new(ish) method of measuring what type of wind it takes to loft certain objects (in this instance full train cars) was used, and it estimates wind speeds greater than 260mph. This tornado hit at night and killed three people.

The "Real Time Tornado" series from about 10 years ago are really good. Uses all real footage from the events and walks through the development minute by minute. Moore and Joplin are crazy.

Tornados at night are one of my true fears in life. I've lived through 2 that missed where I was sheltering/living by a few blocks. I was a 3-wood away from potentially complete destruction in both cases. Both at night. Loud as frick and ground/windows vibrating.

I am not scared of much. That scares me big time. My wife and I pay very close attention to storm cells and have shelter and plan for kids (helmets, shoes, etc.) that we practice.

A tornado is one thing I would be perfectly fine living my whole life without experiencing.

One was in North Alabama and another in Nashville.

They call it the new tornado alley.

I was in a small one in central Louisiana in 2001. Scary because you're a sitting duck.

I too was in a small EF-0 or 1 tornado that touched down in the middle of the night in Pineville circa 2018 or 19

Completely unwarned too... absolutely terrifying at night... even the small 1

Knocked a tree through the kitchen of the house across the street from mine... fortunately no one was hurt
