Hell yeah! Just found a spot under some pin oaks and waiting on daylight.

Squirrel hunt
Maurepas swamp wma
68 degrees, clear sky with 7 mph E wind
Beretta A400, modified choke and #3 steel shot
Ben’s 100 insect repellent
Good luck to all!

Morehouse Parish, hardwoods on a creek, Volquartsen Summit with subsonics and dead air mask.

Seems almost illegal to hunt with something quieter than a pellet gun

Ended up with 3 grays and a cottonmouth. It’s just too hot to enjoy hunting right now.

Every day is squirrel season on my land. I average about 3-4 a week year round. Those bastards caused me $5k in vehicle damage several years ago and it's killing them indiscriminately since. Killed two yesterday and one this morning.

I use a Ruger 10/22 and my wife uses a 12 gauge with #4 shot. I dont eat them, but I skin and gut them and give them to my cats. The female cat in particular loves raw tree rat.

Love squirrel hunting but not going if it's too warm/hot. Sitting out opening weekend this season.

We had an old camp in the woods when I was a kid, my uncle, dad and I never missed a squirrel opening weekend for 20+ years.

You could walk out the door, go different directions and run into a lot of beech, oak, pine, iron oar with the red berries.

They would usually get a limit then we would cook them Saturday night, good times.

sure do miss it

Squirrels can do some serious damage if they overpopulate a residential area. I have had 2 similar situations.
The last house we had they got in the attic and did some serious damage, so I went scorched earth. Killed about 35 or so before we sold the house and moved.

At the new crib, we have a couple acres with trees all around. About a year after living here, they ate the wiring harness on my wife's VW Atlas, and I have been smoking them ever since, in an attempt to keep the herd thinned out. I have taken out at least 40 since I moved here 3 years ago.

Everyday is squirrel season.

Boeuf WMA opening morning. Launched boat and motored to isolated spot. Other hunters have boats, too. At 0700, heat, mosquitoes, and gunfire reminded me of images through books and movies of 1970 Ashau Valley, South Vietnam. ***sigh***
