I am here to settle the MVB vs Nussmeier controversy / debate

I am starting to hear and see more and more of you mouth breathers demand MVB get the start over Nuss or at least get some series.
The reason he is not playing over Nuss is because he is not as good and the coaches getting paid millions believe that Nuss gives us the best chance to win the game.
Thats it. End of discussion.
all that being said. I still want to see MVB get some reps in SEC games just to be sure

For all the offensive problems last week if the game had been called even halfway decent we’d have won.

Agreed. If the second string QB is your solution to our offensive problems then you have no solution.

I refuse to believe Brian Kelly knows more about football than tRant.

Thanks for settling that for us. I appreciate you clarifying why YOU think MVB is not starting. We win Saturday if MVB plays….not bc he is better than Nuss, but bc Nuss could not properly make the throws needed and his scrambling ability was nonexistent

I didn’t make any comment at all about MVB. You’re putting words in my mouth to create a narrative which is a popular thing to do on this board but it still doesn’t warrant credibility

I’ll be chanting MVB if we open up with another 3&out against SC, but I agree he is not the savior that some think he is.
A healthy Nuss is our starter rest of season, but I’d be okay seeing MVB come in for a series or two if needed.

You can believe that if you want, but it doesn’t make it true. Assuming you’re talking about the Ole Miss game

See. That’s why I can’t take some of you seriously.

There’s zero information that would suggest he’d have won the game. It’s an unprovable talking point which is why it’s being used.

I don’t know what I can say to you guys who believe MVB would not have made a difference. You play him in the second half and call a few calculated qb run plays and it opens everything up for you. MVB has proven he can play in this league. Ridiculous to think he could not have helped.

I haven't seen any of this imaginary narrative that MVB is a superstar in waiting. I have seen a lot of posters with very valid concerns as to whether Nuss is currently a viable SEC QB. He certainly was not against Ole Miss.

“Could have helped” is not the same thing as definitely would have won the game.

I refuse to believe anyone knows more...or less about football the tRant

Nobody is saying MVB is a superstar in waiting. What we are saying is he could have shown a different look during a point in the game Nuss was struggling to see the field.

You play him in the second half
If inserting MVB into the game is the only change we made in the 2nd half then, no, that alone would not have changed the outcome.

This is hilarious. Kelly has already been forced to play players over his four year career that he didn't initially think was better to start the season.
Lane Kiffin actually thought Austin Simmons was better than Trindad Chambliss when they practiced.
James Franklin actually thought Drew Allar was better than Beau Pribula
Allar 63% 736 yards 6.8 ypa 6 TD 2 int, 70 rush yards (4 games 1 P4 team)
Pribula 76% 1203 yards 8.3 ypa 9 TD 3 int, 120 rush yards 3 TD (5 games 2 P4 teams)
Let me show you something that hits close to home. Kelly choosing Winbush over Book at ND. It took him 3 games until he switched. They went from averaging 23.3 ppg to averaging 37.5 ppg for the rest or the regular season.
Coaches aren't always right, and some guys just need a chance.

Marcel Reed came into the game against us last season and we had no answer for him. Sometimes, defenses are not prepared to face type of Qb. Would have been smart to see if MVB can bring some juice last week.

Nobody thought JD5 was going to be great coming out of Arizona State and he was holding a Heisman Trophy two years later.
